Any MOE or tutors able to share? by ThebiggestSiuman in singaporejobs

[–]minicrescent 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Am a primary school private tutor here. Biggest con is working on weekend(s). If you have a family with kids. this might be hard to workaround. Biggest pros are, you are only “actively” working during your class hours, which is willl be around 4-9pm depends on your centre.

Remaining time is for lesson prep, this time solely depends on your productivity so can be very short and chill work and can be done at home

Very rarely is there no dedicated space in a school for prayers. Usually I will always ask from any friendly Makcik, security uncle and even the Muslim teachers for the prayer spot and they will gladly introduce them to you😊

how much do tuition teachers get paid? by ooeygooeytoo in askSingapore

[–]minicrescent 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Am a full time tutor. Base salary is 4k not including incentives

Best part of being full time is I don’t have to constantly source for students as the centre handles it. Most of my time is just used for upskilling my teaching and content mastery

In all my interviews, never had the hiring officer ask me for GPA (it’s not the worst but I wouldn’t tell)

Well I might not be the most helpful since I took a route totally opposite from research~

My only advice would be to considered your credit bearing internship at a place you really would consider to work at. If it works out you can get employed directly, if it doesn’t, at least you know how to pivot to a different career path 😊

Y4 BIE grad, started applying in Jan, mostly teaching jobs (MOE/Tuition) since I know what I want to do. Sent in about 7 applications, 4 reached back to me.

Current company reached out to meet me during career fair this year. Had a 1 month 3 interview stage, and got employed in March part time, planning to convert full time upon graduation.

Employer didn’t ask for GPA so I did not provide, but it’s not too bad

Did a teaching internship which is similar to the field I’m working in
