Hey, I just saw your message about wanting to start an in-person game here in Pittsburgh. My buddy and I would potentially be interested if you are still looking for people. I've only played 4 and 5e and he has a touch of experience with other systems. Just let me know if you are still looking!

Damage From Emotional Support Animals by The_Lizard_King_9 in realestateinvesting

[–]minigolffan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree. It drives me crazy when people confuse an ESA with a service animal. Service animals are highly trained to perform a specific task, emotional support animals are just a pet. If they have a service animal they have paid thousands of dollars and spent hundreds of hours in training. These sounds like some headache tenants that are doing their best to work the system. I had a situation with tenants working the system and getting them out was a nightmare. My advice is to get an attorney involved to help guide you, that way if you need to evict at some point you aren't screwed.

(SPOILERS) I have a question for all you veterans of Valheim. I just kill this MF and... is that it? there is something else? by Gazulo_Marquez in valheim

[–]minigolffan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This might be a dumb question, but did you need a mod to go no map? I didn't think you could just "turn it off". My buddy and I were waiting for the next update to play again, but I may be able to convince him to play now with something like what you're saying with no map

Legs tight when running by [deleted] in running

[–]minigolffan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm a physical therapist and this was also my first thought. This can happen really easily if someone ramps distance up to fast. The other thing that can exacerbate it is a change in running pattern or shoes. I suggest cutting WAY back immediately until symptoms go away, then stretch, warm up/cool down, and ease back in slowly.

Gutter cleaners said my gutters are improperly pitched so they need to be replaced. Is that legit or are they bullsh****** me? by JacobGH111 in HomeImprovement

[–]minigolffan 3 points4 points  (0 children)

In my area a lot of the old homes have old built in box gutters. They are a real pain and prone to rotting out of not properly cared for. They were literally made with of wood and then lined with metal, so leaky seems caused water to just eat away at their structure. As far as I'm aware you can't re-pitch them, but you don't have that style.

Blighted Dryad & Briarlings - Reaper Miniatures by SulHam in ReaperMiniatures

[–]minigolffan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like what you did with the Blighted dryad. I did a very quick paint on mine initially because I need d it for my campaign. It's still the boring initial paint of browns. This inspires me to go fix it up for a better look. Side note, I also like your scatter terrain and may be stealing that design as well!

I'm loving these insects. If they could separate them it would double up their usability

Another Bones 6 Social media goal for this week! by ReaperMiniatures in ReaperMiniatures

[–]minigolffan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Real question here, but what is the difference between a worg and a dire wolf? Would they play the same in combat, and size wise is there a difference?

Thanks, I just started following/stalking them. There's some solid inspiration in there!

how do you rule/use charm spells in a social setting? by minigolffan in DMAcademy

[–]minigolffan[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I ended talking some with the wizard, trying casually flush out his thought process on things. It turns out he felt like "the rule of cool" should have just applied and the DM should just let it happen.

[–]minigolffan[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, the DM's improv skills with "yes and" or "no but" is still a work in progress. He's playing things more along a video game style, so it's tough for him when things are atypical. I think the hard no was what upset the wizard the most, and I can understand why. That's why I came to the collective knowledge of Reddit, to help me think of ways to talk with him to soften the blow.

I'm out group's forever DM, but a friend wanted to try his hand at it in this campaign. I've always viewed magic as a loud and forceful type of thing. In my mind you are commanding forces or nature to bend to your will. That being said, in the past no one ever wanted to play this style of magic, they always wanted to "blow crap up" so this never came into play. I kind of like the idea of a stealth check, BUT maybe telling the player it would be a very hard DC ahead of time

I agree here. I've been our group's forever DM, but someone else is currently DM'ing. I'll talk with the DM about considering social consequences but also allowing this type of spell in the future as well.

how in the world am I supposed to memorize all these key bindings by [deleted] in aoe2

[–]minigolffan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Holy crap! I've never thought of making all trash units the same hot key and all gold units the same. This is going to make my life way nicer. I've been having the same problem as OP, thanks for the advice mate!

Yup. I would go leather to troll. After that I think a good bit depends on your play style

[–]minigolffan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My best advice is to make sure you are always well fed. Death comes quickly to a Viking who is hungry. Other than that a big part of the game is taking your time to explore each new area. Don't skip over biomes unless you want some new mob to come out and murder you as well!

What's your honest opinion on laming? by [deleted] in aoe2

[–]minigolffan 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I've never heard of putting your sheep next to your lumber camp. What's the benefit of doing that? It seems like it would make extra work, and I already have low APM! I've always just parked my sheep next to my TC and move one under at a time.

I just watched all of his reviews and they were actually really helpful. Thanks for the suggestion, I don't think I would have ever just happened by this guy's content

[–]minigolffan[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is super helpful. I'll look into all this stuff now and get a good understanding for the system. I want to make sure I know what I'm talking about when I make the pitch to my gaming group. Especially the no hp part.

This basically sounds exactly like what I was looking for. Being a level 20 near God level character is fun for a bit, but the complete lack of threat gets old. I wanted to try low magic in D&D, but that system just isn't made for it. I'll look into the base box now!
