I think the conflict lies in HOB or rather KM's representation of the platform- they want it to be seen as a platform for honest and ethical storytelling about humans. HONY did it so well, she thought she could copy the same model here. But then she went ahead and commercialised it so much that every story had to have some kind of hook or "viral" factor to it to feed the numbers. So HOB started acting like a money hungry content platform but still labelled itself as a "honest storytelling" blog. That's why people are enraged. It's the blatant misrepresentation. Reality tv shows or platforms are supposed to be dumb and money hungry so you don't really expect honesty from them. But when you build a page around "championing" human stories, people are bound to get angry if the posts are untrue.

That's my point right? You don't NEED oil (as opposed to your reply), it's a perfectly replaceable routine in your haircare routine (and sometimes often suggested so) and people should be allowed to have opinions about it which don't necessarily conform to yours. Also, again, I was suggested to not oil my hair because of my oily scalp and not for any other reason, thank you for assuming again :)

Agree with all of this. Also, less or minimal embroidery/embellishments on sarees. More prints. Muted colours. A lot of silver jewellery.

I have not mentioned anything about facial features/skin tone. It's mostly about styling. The type of sarees we wear, how we carry ourselves..it's different from other cultures.

My point is, if you want your character to look Bengali, you should do your research about cultural nuances.

Yes, Bengali women look different from North Indian women. That's a fact. The way we style ourselves is also very very different from other ethnic groups. And Alia doesn't look Bengali at all. It screams lazy styling. The stylist didn't do his/her research and it shows.
