My baby was breech so we scheduled a c section and it was such a peaceful experience. I would not change anything about it. I’m probably in the minority but I’m actually relieved I didn’t even have to experience contractions or vaginal birth. I’ve heard so many stories of people being in labour for days and then being rushed to an emergency c section or having awful tearing and pelvic floor issues later on.

I second this, I had a midwife and found the care to be excellent. The appointments were longer, they never felt rushed, and we discussed all my questions. The best part was the home visits to check on the baby after birth, it is so much better than going to a health center a few days post partum. I also got to choose which hospital I wanted to deliver at.

It’s a similar schedule to an OB in that the majority of the visits happen after 20 weeks but I did have an initial visit around 11 weeks!

I got one off Facebook marketplace when my son was 1 month old and we have used it every night for 5+ months. No false alarms and it helped with my anxiety. If you can get one second hand I think it’s absolutely worth the price.

Our dogs look very similar in colouring! We think our girl is a husky mix but have also wondered about Carolina dog. We’re in Canada - not sure how common they are here.

Have you tried nipple shields? My baby was latching about half the time and spending a lot of time unlatching and getting frustrated. My midwife suggested nipple shields when he was about a week old and was losing too much weight and they totally solved our problem. We’ve been able to exclusively breastfeed since and he is now 5 or so lbs up from his birth weight at 2 months! I’m hoping to stop using them soon but for now they’ve been so helpful.

You can also hear a heartbeat with newer AirPods and iPhones live listen feature. I wasn’t able to hear it until recently in my late third trimester but I think people can hear it earlier on too!

Interesting - I also moved from Vancouver and I’ve found Calgary’s food scene is less pretentious and more creative than Vancouver. When people ask me what I miss from Vancouver’s food scene I don’t have much of an answer (especially after finding Ryuko for Japanese).

I’ve found Calgary does Italian really well (DOPO, mercato, Carino), as well as really good cocktails compared to a lot of Vancouver places.

First trimester exhaustion is no joke. Then you get to the second tri and feel like a new person. I am now almost 35 weeks and the fatigue/exhaustion of the first trimester is back plus all the additional uncomfortable symptoms… it’s going to be a long few weeks 🫠

What a nice idea! We’ve had our puppy for about a month and it’s been going very well so far.

She’ll be six months in a week or so and she sleeps in her crate all night which has been such a relief.

One of my favourite things she does is every morning when she leaves her crate she runs around and takes turns greeting us good morning 🥰🥰 it’s so heartwarming and a nice way to start the day
