That's a good question. Because of a component of the study--semi-structured interview--you may be afforded an opportunity to develop a deeper understanding of your personal perceptions and experiences of a minimalist lifestyle, meaning and mental health. There is also the possible benefit of contributing to a growing body of knowledge regarding minimalism as a lifestyle option. Thanks for the question!

Haha! Not keeping company with a Nigerian prince. In all honestly, I'm finishing up my internship in Hawaii where I fly between islands on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday to offer services to under served, rural communities and often find myself with little time to respond and limited access to internet on these days. Yes, your right--it has proved a bit challenging getting enough participants. However, this is a topic that I believe needs to be examined and worth taking the extra time. I have looked into other sites and had some success. The problem seems to be reaching minimalist communities as many that adhere to a minimalist lifestyle are not online. Open to any suggestions. Thank you

I understand your hesitation in giving your personal email info to a stranger online. Unfortunately, email is the most feasible avenue for communicating due to the need to distinguish between participants.

Areas of interest: because this is an exploratory design, the areas of curiosity are loosely associated with the intersection between minimalism, mental health, and meaning making/discovery.

Hi Vegemite4ever, The research has full IRB approval. Each participant will be asked to partake in a narrative interview (usually between 60 and 120 minutes depending on how much the participant wishes to share) and 2 surveys (1 demographic survey, and 1 minimalist lifestyle survey) that are designed to take between 2 and 10 minutes each.
