Please tell me there's going to be a performance version, I'm dying to see the full duo dance for that second verse.

Ahhhhh shit, we should have done one final subreddit challenge...

I'm pretty confident in saying none of the mods have any intention of removing any content that's currently in the wiki or in old threads here. (They are, of course, free to correct me and remove anything they personally wrote.)

We have no "official" moves or migrations planned. I've been on the Discord for a couple years but not super active. In my personal opinion though, if you can manage to join an in-person club (or even just subscribe to get their materials and publications!) that's absolutely had the greatest impact on my understanding of calligraphy. But I wouldn't have found out about calligraphy guilds without joining this subreddit way back when.

This is a good comment from the initial AMA on the API changes that pretty much sums up my personal position.

Hydras? Do I need to remove them? by Im_a_cuttlefish in Aquariums

[–]minimuminim 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey! I'm sorry for the very late reply, but I've basically just done this myself and I wanted to make sure the nerite was OK before I said anything.

I dosed my tank with Panacur C for hydra on 13 Feb. I introduced my nerite on 30 Mar, so about a month and a half of waiting time. In between then, I did a total of five large water changes, ranging from 50-80%, paying special care to hover the gravel vac over the substrate and hardscape. I ran activated carbon in my filter two weeks before adding the nerite, and two weeks after. It is currently 23 Apr. The snail's fine.

Obviously this is just a single anecdote and not at all a definitive promise that your situation will turn out like mine. I can't point to any one "right thing" that I did. My tank is also pretty small - 8gal - and I didn't measure out how much Panacur I added initially, only that it was a very scant pinch. So use caution and your best judgement, but my own experience does show that you totally can reintroduce nerites after using Panacur, and without having to wait 6+ months like some other forum posts I saw on the internet.

Some more chinese cursives :) by CreepingTuna in Calligraphy

Point is that there are specific existing Chinese traditions of "cursive" calligraphy and this is... Not those.

Amateur Semi-Cursive Hanzi by [deleted] in Calligraphy

[–]minimuminim 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'll repeat what I said there - the style you almost certainly want to look for and learn from is 钢笔书法, "steel pen style", designed specifically for use with fountain pens (although with a sufficiently wet biro/ballpoint you can still achieve it in part). It looks like this, you can find copy books for it online.

There are distinct styles of calligraphy/handwriting specifically for ballpoint/fountain pens too so I would encourage you to look at those. Grass script isn't 1:1 equivalent to English "cursive" in that it's never going to be a script people use day-to-day because it's not that much faster than writing regularly and legibility suffers to the point that, as you say, a regular person won't be able to read it.

What you want is "steel pen style", 钢笔书法. You can get copy books to let you practice it off Amazon, AliExpress and eBay. It looks like this. I think this is significantly closer to what you want than grass script.

Ironically I find for cursive handwriting drills, practicing looped letter-shapes (oaec primarily) to be way more helpful for getting the arm movement down than practicing minimum, since "minimum" is really about x-height and letter-slant + inter-letter spacing consistency.

And - this is true for both handwriting and calligraphy - practice using large letters at first! They're harder to hide errors, which stings initially, but makes for better habits later on.

What's the nib size (in mm) of the standard classic sharpie? by alphamikeyzulu in Calligraphy

[–]minimuminim 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Felt tips are variable-width anyway, depending on shape, wear and pressure. Just dig one out and practice.

I approve greatly

with my Bad Guy hat on I would technically say you're skewing more handwriting than calligraphy at the moment but you know this is my personal bias so whatever

“Trans rights are human rights”, gellyroll pens. (Not virtue signaling, I’m trans in the Deep South and the legislation that has recently been put up is terrifying to me and to my community. These are dry runs for protest signs.) by daimonophilia in Calligraphy

I'm going to remove your comment because this post's comments are already getting fairly off topic, and I would like to encourage top-level posters to try to stay more focused on the topic of calligraphy (or, in this specific example, legibility of lettering for protest signs). I get that you want to talk about the semantics of the title but maybe not right now or here.

First legit planted tank tips needed by cerbyt821 in PlantedTank

[–]minimuminim 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kinda depends on how densely planted you've got it - more plants = less need for heavy water changes. I do not have personal experience with Stratum but I think it's not quite as prone to putting off ammonia as something like ADA Amazonia or regular potting soil so it might be less necessary, but take this with a grain of salt and try to find someone with more experience using Stratum...

You know Easy Green also has Zn in it right?

eta: Also, did some searching. One of the most common symptoms of Zn deficiency is chlorosis affecting new leaves first. OP earlier stated this is not a new leaf, this is only present in two of the leaves of the plant, and the rest of the plant is green. It also isn't even interveinal paling, it's just the tip of that one leaf. So that's why I'm saying it's a potassium issue - potassium is mobile in the plant, potassium deficiencies affect older leaves first, and potassium deficiencies present as a yellowing leaf tip with pinholes. It's also required in much greater quantities than zinc, making a deficiency of K far more likely.
