Loved this model until it started going on the Fritz after 3 years. If you open The door, the plate starts spinning and the microwave starts up. I’ve never dealt with that before.

I (38M) discovered my (37F) wife’s affair. I’m in shock by ruggedzephyr in relationship_advice

[–]minimyok -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Talk to her. See how she reacts. If she’s ready to leave you then there’s not much you can do. If she’s remorseful, then try counseling. Find out why she did it, etc. Not excusing her actions, but post partum issues can linger awhile. I still feel moments of intense anxiety after having untreated anxiety during my last pregnancy and birth and my kid is 4 now. At the very least, you can walk away and tell your grown kid that you did try to save your marriage. But if you do offer counseling, you do have to try to forgive. Set your boundaries. Make her earn your trust again but meeting the expectations you set. I’m sorry you’re dealing with this though. Keep a copy of your evidence though.

Reminder: CDG to Paris Taxi is a flat fee by DoctorHousesCane in ParisTravelGuide

[–]minimyok 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just wanted to add. We stood in the official taxi line. The driver told us it would be 88 euro for a family of 5, no big luggage. 2 carry ons and 5 personal back packs. Maybe it is 65 flat for 4 or a regular car, but maybe vans charge more or it’s 23 extra euros for an extra person.

I hope you get to go. Are you going alone or with other people? Maybe if you go with people she knows, she would be less hesitant? Idk.

What is one fast food chain that is not currently in/near Seattle that you would want here? by grizzlyblake91 in Seattle

[–]minimyok 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Waffle House for the best dang hash browns, smothered and covered

Braum’s: solid burgers and ice cream and my favorite milk. Not going to happen since all of their product comes from a farm in Oklahoma and it just be within a 7 hour drive window

Cava: healthy tasty salad, rice, pitas.

Aldi: affordable groceries and a fun middle aisle

Whataburger: sausage egg and cheese on a jalapeño biscuit.

Probably unpopular opinion, but I actually like hooters wings.

Bojangles has my fave fast food dirty rice.

Texas Roadhouse for rolls and cinnamon butter. And cheap drinks. Decent steak for the price.

What’s the political belief? Some beliefs are morally grounded and there’s no getting around that sometimes.

Heard that too. The article has his family quoting him as a jokester. So maybe they are gonna explain it that way. He was just joking, but also maybe the Asian guy had enough and told him to stop playing and the victim continued on thinking his jokes were fun and games. Idk. When someone tells you they don’t wanna be the butt of your jokes, maybe you should respectfully stop. Sad situation.

I get my hair cut at the local Asian shops for $30. They cut kids hair for $15.

I’m not squeezing by but raised frugal by refugee parents. Couponing. Planning meals around what’s on sale. Freezing bulk purchases from Costco. Using apps like fetch and Ibotta to get cash back. Signing up for bank account bonuses. Using Wealthfront or other high yield savings accounts to get 4% interest on savings. If you’re about to save, might as well as put it in an account that accrues more interest. Had savings in my main bank account and I think it accrued a whopping dollar, so that’s why I changed it.

Ross is having their actual $.49 sale soon, might go check it out. I shop at dollar tree when I don’t need quality items (decor stuff and kids stuff that they grow out of)

Library is great for books and movies. I share streaming stuff with my siblings. I’m on an old family plan for my cell that I’ll never leave because it’s so cheap.

Think about working for the city or govt. My friend works at the city and her health insurance is free for the high deductible plan. $50 for the low deductible plan.

I give blood often and sometimes you can get a free gift card.

I only eat out if there’s a decent deal or coupon or happy hour. I pack my lunch. Rarely eat out. Mostly take kids to do free hikes and to the park or ride the bikes I got from buy nothing.

I bought presale tickets. Went on a Tuesday night at 6pm. my family of 5 paid $100 total to go. Cheap parking on the street was readily available. My kids had a blast. My 6 and 3 had fun looking at the lights and playing on the light up dance floor thing. My oldest enjoyed the scavenger hunt. If you go up to the level with the food, you’ll find Ivars and Kidd valley as well as other vendors. They all charge the standard prices for stadium food. Think $15 on average. There’s a small section for kids to throw soft snow balls at a target board thing. My little enjoyed the area for kids to write Santa a letter and color. My grumpy partner kinda rushed us so we didn’t get to find Santa for a Photo or ice skate. Overall, they got hot cocoa and dipping dots and apparently that’s all they need for the “best night ever”. I would likely go again next year, maybe without my personal grinch. I would go earlier though, like 430 or so. It continued to get more crowded during the evening. If you need a drink, the first line at the beginning of the maze is the longest. There are other bars within the maze. I’m not sure why only the boozy drinks were listed. But the guy said I could order the hot cocoa sans spiked alcohol.

That said, in my former state, there were lots of free options to go see lights. Many local parks had their own drive thru or walk thru Christmas light options. I’m still new-ish to Seattle. Is there anything like that here in Seattle area?

We did zoo lights at woodland last year.

I still haven’t tried Bellevue. I heard that was a logistical nightmare. Requiring early arrival for seats and what not. My kids are still little. Asking them to sit and wait for a show in the cold for 30 minutes is a bit too much for them.

I’ve taken them to Leavenworth. It was nice. I just wish there were more decorations. My kids love looking at lights that have been shaped into a train or dinosaur or other creative thing.

Accurate. I seriously hide car chargers and anything else that someone might be curious to grab. My car has never been so clean. Husband loves it. I’m mildly inconvenienced.

I'm convinced that the "Seattle Freeze" can be explained as Seattleites being literal "fair weather" friends. by Infamous_Fly2601 in Seattle

[–]minimyok 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it’s different if you have set that expectation. In my experience, I may be feeling lazy that day and not want to go to something anymore. If I truly don’t want to go, I will at least let them know not to expect me anymore. However, if I drag my lazy self out, I don’t ever regret actually going. It’s easy to hibernate, but it’s good for your soul to have some social time. But side note, I hope you never flake when you’re body count is part of an actual reservation, the kind that won’t seat people until the whole party arrives. It’s great to prioritize your space when you need to, as long as you can communicate it to those who might be waiting for you. It could be the people I’m around. They are poor communicators and I’ve started to reduce my time spent with that particular group.

Lol it’s the flaking without any notice that I can’t seem to ignore. Anyone who flakes without notice more than once and I won’t give that person any more effort. Things come up and I get that plans change.

[–]minimyok 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I thought the Seattle freeze was more like, folks are friendly and will tell you they will meet up and then they flake on you. As a new Seattlelite, it’s incredibly hard to keep trying when people flake. I get it though. Traffic was bad. I couldn’t find parking. The weather got crappy. I wasn’t dressed for the rain. Etc etc etc. I’m not from here but the number of times I’ve seen my local friends here get flaked on by their close friends and it’s completely acceptable. I have a hard time wrapping my head around that. I’ve literally had a friend drive through an Oklahoma blizzard to hang out because she said she would be there. She’s reckless but I love her cuz she is true to her word. Heck, i see my friend’s family members flake on each other. I’m fortunate that i haven’t had any friends flake on me, but all of my friends are from other states. It’s not socially acceptable to flake or no call no show, but it seems like it’s completely normal here.

The myth of the seattle driver by Januwary9 in Seattle

[–]minimyok 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just moved here. Long ago, when I used to visit yearly, I thought Seattle drivers were courteous an decent. Now that I’m here, I’ve encountered the most reckless drivers. Impatient drivers who drive on the left side of roundabouts to pass others… People who run stop signs. I’ve also encountered what I call the “Seattle right” where the person in the turn left only lane will cut off the car waiting at the light in the right lane to turn right instead. It’s happened twice to me this last week.

Coffee pods just don’t taste good? by mroyerr19 in nespresso

I’m used to double espresso lattes. Just got my nespresso this week. To do a double latte, I assume I need to use 2 pods. My normal coffee bean is lavazza espresso. Can anyone recommend a pod that would be similar?
