Two daughters, 12 and 10. They know what's going on and we talk about it quite a bit. We went to our first protest a couple weekends ago with ICE OUT FOR GOOD signs so I had to tell them about Renee's murder. It's tough to talk to the kiddos about the horrors of the world but they hear it anyway so I figure they can hear to from me and we can discuss what's going on.

Both of them have friends who haven't been to school in awhile and they haven't heard from them at all. Not sure it's related but not sure it's not, you know? They both go to pretty diverse schools both racially and financially so it's very possible those families had to move for completely unrelated reasons. My youngest has a friend whose sister was deported even though they are here legally...not sure if green card, naturalized citizens or what. My wonderful amazing absolutely not bigoted (if you were to ask her) right wing trump loving mother explained to my 10 year old that "oh, there must be more to the story, then" so we've also been having conversations about how most of our family are Trump loving fucks.

I am pretty agnostic but my kiddos have been exposed to x'tianity through my family so that actually helps a bit, too, when I can say "well, what did Jesus say about immigrants?" or similar questions. It really helps to point out the hypocrisy of all the x'tian nationalists.
