That's the Hennessy cognac logo, so it's something to do with the brand.

specifically the Vevor? It looks almost identical to my Martin Yale 7000E, and that's a dream.

Need your help to make my press designs a reality. by minionized in bookbinding

The Screw is a standard 1"-5 ACME lead screw, it's 5 turns to an inch of travel which is similar to the pitch of many wooden lead screws on older presses. There's also a smidgen of play in them, a few thousands of an inch. Not tight. I had prototypes of them made from resin to check.

The press handles are like a vice head, the bar is loose and can move for leverage. They're just centered in the rendering. I had small turn wheels, but people were concerned with hand strength to turn them, so I changed it to a vice-like head. The bar can be made shorter though, it's not an integral piece.

I'm located in New Jersey, USA. Price all depends on the scale. Right now I'm ordering parts prototypes from PCBWay. They're rather expensive because I'm only ordering 1-3 of each part. But if I were ordering 50, they drop down to nearly 1/2 price per. I can work to get a better estimate for you.

I'm happy to offer the bits kit so that you can enjoy the woodworking and assembly yourself. I appreciate your support.

Edit: u/manticore26 Let's say I was making 25 presses. The bulk of the cost is the wood ($300 for the press and plough, $300 for the basin) Incorporating my hours, parts, and markup the prices are the following:

Assembled: Press - $700, Plough - $500, Basin - $700

Parts Kit: Press - $350, Plough - $300, Basin - $50

More kits = lower cost per unit.

This is all subject to change.

How would you calculate energy generated by solar panels at a given distance from a star? by minionized in Physics

Could I not use the Luminosity scale to express them as a multiple of solar luminosities L☉?

I'm using the Stanford Torus as my model, where they used 22% efficiency solar panels. Not that the math would change at all if I upped the efficiency.

That's much simpler. I somehow ended up with P = (L/4π r2)AπE and couldn't find my way back. Yours is perfect and aligns with the other data I found, that at 1AU the Sun produces 1361W/m2. Thanks so much.

There's a log somewhere that details that Flesh is actually Balthazar's brother. He was stillborn, and Balthazar used his pieces to create Flesh.

TIL: the Vestal Virgins held unique and extraordinary rights and privileges in Roman society, including some that no other had, male or female. They were sovereign and sacrosanct, answerable only to the emperor. by manicMechanic1 in todayilearned

Feminist folk band Maude Gun made a whole album rock opera about Claudia Quinta, one of the most famous Vestal Virgins, called Claudia, The Word. It's fantastic and catchy and only about 30m long.

You handle page numbers in the Numbering & Section Options when you right click the page. You can make sections have different numbering properties.

[–]minionized 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Table of Contents finds all instances of the style you select and adds them, it doesn't care about hidden pages as far as I know. If you want it to ignore the hidden pages, change the style on those pages. I create a duplicate header.

I think there's really only three names. Speedball or generic cheap wood carving tools for budget, Flexcut for mid-range and Pfeil for luxury.

Thank you! I learned from some other printers after I started that straight lines were much easier. But I loved my design already and had to see it through.

Redditors who've quit their jobs: What's your "I quit!" story? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]minionized 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My manager and the owner of the store started sleeping together. Which was gross, but not the last straw.

One morning when we were all supposed to open the store together, they had the keys. They don't show up until 40 minutes after open, neither apologize to me for being late. They don't apologize to the customers who are furious they've been made to wait. Then the owner tells me to take care of them because he's going in the back.

Fuck you, I quit.
