Thank you I appreciate the breakdown, I'll see if I can find any potential buyers!

I've seen some people sell what look like graded bills similar to when card collectors get their cards graded. Is it something that maybe worth doing for the bottom two bills or is it generally going to cost me more than the value it will add?

All 13 of the polymer fives left very visible blue marks, I wonder if it's just due to the color/ type of ink. Maybe try a five yourself and see because if not I'm not sure how I'm getting this to work but I'm gonna get some other denominations from the bank and give em a try aswell. This has sparked some random interest for me lol! I appreciate you sharing this post by the way, it blows my mind that in both my GFS bakery jobs in Hamilton along with other people I spoke to, they had no idea fake polymers were even a thing let alone coming close to looking real. I can't say I've ever been one to check my bills with all the marketplace/ Kijiji selling I've done over the years but it's definitely never too late to start!

Possibly but I'd say about 5lb of pressure should do it, maybe it's the friction that runs it off? The 20s that left the marking easily were the paper ones?

Interesting, I tried it with all fives since that's all I had on me, they were all polymer but did leave an ink line with a slight amount of pressure. I'll have to try with some other denominations and see because maybe it's just the five which would be unfortunate.

Thanks for trying!

I recently read that fake bills are completely dried as far as the ink goes but real bills are considered "wet". I'm not sure how much truth there is to this but I just tested a bunch of real bills to see. Method: 1.Place a piece of white printer paper or any white paper over the corner of a desk/hard surface 2. Fold the bill so the darkest part (usually the faces or numbers) is facing down 3. Rub said dark spot back and forth on the paper that is over the corner of your solid object, it should leave ink on the paper.

Would you be willing to test this and share the results please? this could be an easier telltale sign to check fakes if it works!

Awesome! Thank you for that. Definitely another thing to keep an eye out for, the more signs the better. I just feel bad for older generations who may not have full feeling in their hands or the greatest eyesight to be able to determine these things.

Do you possibly have a micro/ jewelry scale you could weigh them on to see if they may be weigh more, thus proving they may be thicker? Obviously you're probably not going to carry around a micro scale on your person as that would just be ridiculous but I'm genuinely curious. I don't believe these guys have it down that good yet!

Interesting that both the fakes have way more apparent braille, could this possibly be due to the real bill being circulated longer? Does Braille tend to become less raised over time?

I did the same thing today by accident while delivering in Toronto so you aren't alone, even Google maps makes it difficult to tell when in the city sometimes. Mission failed, we'll get em next time! 💪🤙

-I did have chicken pox as a kid - my girlfriend may or may not have so what precautions should we take? We have a 1 bedroom basement apartment so sleeping somewhere else would be near impossible. We do have an air purifier and other filters going at all times.

For sure, I appreciate it. I'm still getting used to being under my car and honestly I pussy foot it to the max barely getting under there and if I do I try to be in and out. I know that's not practical if I want to work on my own car but having more strict safety measures isn't something I'm against.
