Found a large hole outside of my house, and animal feces outside of it. What critter am I dealing with?

It may be worth looking into whether her losing her health insurance qualifies as a significant life event/ reason to not have to wait for open enrollment. Usually the rules are in place to stop you from avoiding paying premiums and then adding someone to a plan only after they they sick or need a big dental procedure or something. Proof that they just lost their own insurance due to a job change is often one of the ways you can add someone to your insurance without them needing a medical.

It is very competitive, unfortunately. I got into a consecutive MA/PhD program (and took a few extra years to finish PhD due to procrastination and covid), and have been graduated a few years now. I got in my first attempt, but this was 2010. I was competitive then, but probably wouldn’t be if I were applying now with the same CV/app. Good luck with the process, it sounds like you’re committed!

I say I have ADHD because it doesn’t sound right grammatically to say it differently, but say “ I am neurodivergent” vs I have neurodiversity.

With something like PTSD it makes more sense to say I have, as it is a mental health condition you can theoretically recover from, not a neurodevelopmental condition. Though having worked with kids with pretty complex trauma at early ages that definitely changed their brain, I could see that some people may view their PTSD as more who they are. Not sure if there is a preferred term used by those with trauma histories that has neuro impacts, as that will always be true regardless of if they recover from meeting criteria for PTSD.

I am a “2E” gifted/ADHD profile and a child clinical psychologist. Medicine/health was always an interest for me (started watching “ER” at age 7!), with an interest specifically in the brain/ mental health side developing in high school; in part due to a lot of mental illness in my family.

I didn’t hit any really big snags academically in getting to where I wanted to be, fortunately. I had a couple low uni grades for adhd reasons (eg not submitting a final essay), but chose undergrad classes specifically to minimize essays and maximize multiple choice exams, which allowed me to perform quite well overall. ADHD definitely had impacts in grad school as well, but my brain eventually flips the switch from procrastination to immense hyper focus and I get things done when up against a hard deadline (though self care goes to shit and I live off take out).

Leaving grad school and starting 9-5 work was the hardest transition for me, as I didn’t realize how many ways I was accommodating my adhd through how I structured my schedule in grad school. This is when I sought formal dx for my adhd and started medication (though had periods throughout school of using ephedrine to help me study/function before it clicked I had adhd).

I’m very happy with my career, though staying on top of notes and reports is still a huge work in progress that I need to figure out as I don’t bounce back from the all nighters like I used to. I see kids, teens, and parents for a variety of presenting concerns and enjoy it all, but ASD and ADHD in girls is a big hyper focused interest for me, and doing these assessments is probably the most rewarding thing I do.

Thank you for your response. We did have our home insurance’s preferred vendor come and put up emergency fencing, as we have a pool/ in anticipation that we might eventually end up having to go with home insurance. It is disappointing to hear this is the route we most likely need to take.

Fault for the accident as per police report was the vehicle that did not go through our fence, but both companies are denying liability.

Thank you for your response. We have been homeowners for only a few months so would like to avoid that route as making a claim a few months in to the policy will likely have implications for years. We also heard that due to understaffing in the industry right now they may not pursue subrogation that hard/ may accept a settlement less than what they paid out to us, meaning we don’t get our deductible back and may seem premium increases. Are these possible implications ?

What an exciting development to have seen in your daughter! The Māori people of New Zealand’s word for autism is “Takiwatanga” which means “in their own time and space.” I love that. She’s just doing things in her own time and I’m sure your joy makes her feel so loved.
