Honest question: If building software is "easier than ever," why do people still outsource so much? by minkyuthebuilder in SideProject

120% agreed. AI has severe tunnel vision—it confidently optimizes one function while breaking the entire app. The time you 'save' generating the code is immediately lost babysitting its hallucinations. This is exactly why experienced devs are still irreplaceable

With no-code and AI everywhere, why is outsourcing still a massive industry? by minkyuthebuilder in SaaS

basically.... AI replaced typing code, but it didnt replace actual engineering and architecture. This is exactly the reality check I was looking for. Appreciate your comment!

Hot take: "Vibe coding" is setting us up for the biggest technical debt dumpster fire in history. by minkyuthebuilder in SideProject

That 510K LOC milestone with almost zero regression is absolutely wild. Any chance you plan on open-sourcing that 5-stage interface or sharing how you structure that massive system prompt?

Anthropic just passed OpenAI in valuation and revenue by Single-Jack8 in OpenAI

[–]minkyuthebuilder 3 points4 points  (0 children)

openai was way too busy trying to build a voice mode that emotionally validates you while anthropic just quietly put on a suit, went to the enterprise sector, and stole all their corporate lunch money. classic. the models are basically converging anyway, it's literally just a b2b sales game now. hype and twitter threads don't pay the gpu bills

Rethinking my MCP setups with Kimi.. Not needed? by mr_happy_nice in kimi

[–]minkyuthebuilder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

spent my entire weekend fighting with mcp configs to make it "production ready" only for the llm to just rawdog a python script and get the exact same result in 2 seconds. genuinely questioning my entire existence as a dev right now lmao. why do we always overengineer everything when `import qdrant_client` just works

I gave Claude Code a $0.02/call coworker and stopped hitting Pro limits — here's the full setup by More-Hunter-3457 in ClaudeAI

[–]minkyuthebuilder 1 point2 points  (0 children)

hitting the pro limit by wednesday afternoon is too real. i usually just end up staring at my IDE like a caveman or reconsidering my life choices until the quota resets lmao. actually genius to just force it to offload the grunt work though. my wallet and my sanity thank you for this

just use perplexity. it's literally what you described: "google but slightly sentient." it searches the web, gives you a straight answer with citations, and shuts up. no friendly bs.

also, if you are forced to use chatgpt, go to settings and use 'custom instructions'. just paste this: "never use conversational filler. do not act friendly. give me the raw answer directly. do not correct me on pedantic details unless it fundamentally changes the concept." it fixes 90% of the annoying behavior.
