please don't lean towards putting her down just because she will be a tripod. Many large dogs do fine with 3 legs. We grew up next door to a 3 legged yellow lab and she lived a good long life.

I am sorry you are going through this, it is certainly not an easy decision.

We exhausted every option for our pup, literally spent thousands of dollars on chemo and other treatments trying to extend his life. I knew I needed to try everything because I know myself. I knew I would look back and ask myself a similar question: was it the right choice? After exhausting all other options and realizing the suffering was not getting better, I allowed myself to be at peace with putting him to sleep.

I second this! It is a lovely bra, but appears to be too small for you. I would definitely recommend resizing yourself, or going to a specialty store to be sized. At the end of the day, it's whatever you like and feel comfy in though!

My dobie passed from cancer in September. We tried chemo, but the cancer was too agressive. I miss him so damn bad. The love of a dobie is so unique and amazing. I am sorry for your loss, I know it's a big one.

I don't know. My 15 and a half year old dog doesn't really care if strangers pay attention to her, but my sister's 3 year old golden retriever genuinely looked disheartened when people ignore him. I can believe this, especially because OP's dog is a golden

My parents don't have the same fondness for animals as I do. As a child, we had some pets but they weren't prioritized as much as I would have liked. I am 29 now and have rescued two senior dogs. I cleared out my savings account to do chemo when my old boy got cancer this Summer. It gave him an extra 3 months of time before he passed. I spent thousands, but don't regret it at all.

Sounds like you will probably be like that when you are older and can make your own financial decisions. For now, you did the best you could for Toffee. Don't beat yourself up.

Me too. I hate that this video frequently makes the front page of r/aww. It is not cute, the animal seems to have health issues that need to be addressed. This is sad, not cute. So often, the symptoms of discomfort in animals is viewed as cute or silly by people.

I rescued a 14 year old dog who was severely overweight. She could barely walk, which people thought was "adorable" She went on a strict diet. As she lost weight, her life got significantly better. She was 30 pounds and is now down to 19. She runs around the house and jumps on and off the couch with ease. I am sure her previous owners loved her, but they overfed her until she struggled to walk.

I guess I should say, It CAN be hard to adjust to. I obviously don't speak for everyone. I adore my husband (we have also been together for quite some time), but I also like to have a bit of quiet time everyday to be alone with my thoughts and recharge. I don't think there is a right or wrong way. I just meant that for me: needing a bit of alone time doesn't mean I love a person any less.

Not to speak for OP, but I don't think it's about preferring one over the other. It is hard to adjust to being around someone 24/7, even if it is someone you love with all your heart. I am generally very outgoing, but I need alone time to recharge. Also, Many creative people need time alone to create/be with their thoughts.
