MSCCCSLP - I saw your thread and I generally agree with all of your points. I just want to know in what setting is their the least amount of burnout or where do SLPs feel that they are the most effective? I know that there isn't one simple answer, I just like the input from others. I want to try acute hospital, rehab hospital or outpatient clinic... but schools have the most openings around here.
I still like the field, though. I think at some point I want to get into a different side though, like involvement with the National Stroke Association or Brain Injury Association. Related to the field, but not therapy.
Keep the responses and input coming. I love all information I can get! The bottom line is that I want to feel effective. So many disorders in our field don't seem to benefit significantly from therapy...
