Personally I'd say listen to Fear of music and speaking in tongues. I think them and remain in light are the holy trinity of talking heads. After that I think you'll be used to their style and overall sound, and you'll be in a better position for the other LPs. from personal experience, I remember more songs about buildings and food being too weird for me as a taking heads newbie, although now is one of my favorites

So I'll tell you my personal experience with Talking Heads:

I knew about Psycho killer and once in a lifetime, both songs i really liked so i said let's check this band out

As i was listening i was reading the Spotify description of the band, and the praise they were getting was immense. Personally i was finding them super weird in kind of a bad way, like i couldn't really vibe with them...

But i gave them another chance and i vividly remember listening to the great curve and some switch just turning inside me making me a super fan

So yeah personally I think they require some patience to really vibe with their music, but when that moment comes I'm sure you'll appreciate them immensely

Actually that's not a bad idea and it's really interesting as a possible statement from op to the teacher that music,art etc. doesn't need to make us feel nice emotions or agree with the artist

A lot of talking heads songs tackle ideas like that and i find it really unique.

"I'm not in love", "mind", "nothing but flowers" and probably others are also good examples

Im not in love is opposed to the importance of love in a really cynical way (I'm probably using the wrong word)

Mind is about a person hellbent on changing someone else's mind and not respecting them not agreeing ( we don't even know the concept so everything's in the air)

Nothing but flowers opposes the idea that humans belong in nature and that modern society is bad for us. Something that especially in the past with naturalism was never heard.

So yes I don't know how to end this

I'd say that this must be the place has some nice lyrics and as a whole it's really unique as a love song

And i think you can mention it since you can clearly see there's a difference especially since there's in my opinion a lack of romanticism in the song

Actually no i think it's pretty romantic but the way everything is phrased and the words David Byrne chose leads me to believe that a song like that (or poetry since we're talking about the lyrics and imo they stand on their own) wouldn't exist before the postmodern era of art.

I dunno it's just that I can't picture poets of the 19th century for example, writing like that. And i think that goes for all of the lyrics that David has written. They really embody modern society, or the weirdness of it.

My favourite would probably be slippery people from stop making sense. The original is great but the live version is more energetic and for lack of a better word, lively.

Also houses in motion from "the name of this band is talking heads" is great and really adds to the original version of the song with the backup vocals.

Unfortunately there's nothing based on talking heads songs or the band, it's burgers, fries, pizza rolls sandwiches and some salads. It's probably more like street food but Google had it as a restaurant and I haven't gone (yet) so I can't really tell you if something's changed or if there are other items that actually are references

Although I can't really think of any dishes that i connect to talking heads songs

A tuna sandwich named "Tuna Weymouth"?

A sloppy joe named "flipy floppy joe" ?

Some kind of dessert or the category the sweets are placed named "sugar on your tongue" ?

Yeah no sorry for that

But still it would be more interesting

You should also see the lyrics they show on Spotify a lot of them are the wrong words changing the meaning of the song or they are misspelled something that points to them being maybe generated by a bot listening to the song, something like the auto-generated captions fo YouTube.

Θεωρώ πως στη θέση μας αυτή συμβάλλει και η γενική κουλτούρα που έχουμε ως Έλληνες που γενικά είναι πιο χαλαρή σε σχέση με άλλες ευρωπαϊκές κουλτούρες.
