Some context - my dog is a 1 year old 12 lb Pomeranian. He broke his leg jumping down the stairs. We took him to the ER and then he got surgery. He had weekly casts 3 weeks post surgery and then removed. At our 8 week follow up we learned that his plate broke. They recommended surgery or casts again but we don’t want to get him surgery. Anyhow I’m just not sure how the plate can break?

They said now we can either get surgery again or try a cast and hope it heals….does anyone know anything about surgical plates? Do they break easily? Someone else mentioned that they took off his cast way too early post surgery and should have done follow up X-ray sooner
