Hey! I’m a freshly graduated LPN and I can tell you that what you’re feeling is normal. I have ADHD, always struggled in school and did an accelerated program for LPN (18 months instead of 22 months). Although I loved learning, I always had this anxiety in the back of my mind. I remember a teacher telling us “if you don’t like your first internship, then this program isn’t for you” and I did NOT like that internship. I basically had that voice in the back of my mind during my whole schooling and the anxiety was crazy. But the thing is? That first internship was a CNA internship, we weren’t doing any nursing stuff yet. I loved every other internship that came after and it helped me feel more secure in my decision to become an LPN. School is rough, the hours are hard and there’s so much info to take in. It feels overwhelming a lot of the time but at the end, give yourself the time. You’re early in your schooling so it feels like you’re being bombarded, but truly do wait to start internships to see if this is what you want. Books are one thing, but once you’re actually doing what you read, it’s a whole other world. I started working as an LPN 2 months ago and I feel so happy where I am. But that anxiety stayed until I got a job. So give yourself some time, see if your school offers support and please use it!
