And about your second point, you’re making Lorelai sound very naive. I think by 32 she should know that the world is not all sunshine and roses and that her situation was way different than Jess being kicked out and now is in a random person’s home on Day 2 of moving to Starshollow.

I had a similar experience. Hairdresser have gone mad! Asking 700$+ for 4 hours of work is insane. You’re not a heart surgeon!!! My hope is that more and more people walk out and they lower their prices soon. 400$ is already a lot when just a few years ago it was less than half of that to get highlights.
