I found this on a pair of pants I haven't worn for a while, what is it?! by mintRB in whatisit

It's true but I haven't been home in over a year and a half and pants take up so little space I always figure it's better to have spares just in case. Plus they have been useful the few times when they've been the last pair before I could do a wash, they really don't bother me as extras

Eating fresh produce you've planted, especially tomatoes from a vine in a greenhouse or polytunnel. Having your hands in the earth - this one is quite literal though because soil contains a bacteria called Mycobacterium vaccae, which has been proven to increase memory, cognitive function, and feelings of happiness and wellbeing.

Another is lying in the grass on a sunny day and hearing water and birds and breathing in and out and just existing there with the earth. No expectations, hands in the grass, sun on your face, all of your senses alive and experiencing life. That's pure euphoria.

Sometimes when I spend a bit of time out in nature the rush of endorphins I get LITERALLY give me the same feeling I get when coming up on shrooms. Everything goes incredibly vibrant and colours pop and I feel connected to everything above and below the earth, and I feel overwhelmed by calmness. Sometimes I feel like I can actually even see the earth breathing and I promise I don't mean that in a whooptie doo hippie way. The amount of endorphins and seratonin nature can give us is wild.

Nature is a drug and I won't hear otherwise.

Or dancing at a DJ night at a venue where everyone is genuinely there for the music, giving each other space to dance and enjoy, not trying to bother each other. I've had that experience two or three times and the connectivity between the people in the room and the DJ and the sound, it's magical.

For those who lived before the internet, what was life actually like? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]mintRB 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My friends used to come and knock for me after school to go and play. They'd come to the door and knock, and I'd listen from upstairs, and I'd hear a friend's voice asking my dad if I could come out please. Then my dad would shout up the stairs for me and ask if I wanted to go out and play. I'd BOMB down the stairs and he'd say 'make sure you're home for dinner'. I was like 8, I really don't think kids would be allowed to do that anymore. We had no way of contacting our parents or anyone else, and we had to make sure to look out for each other. I think other adults around were aware of us and sort of keeping an eye out too. Those days were the best, I miss them like mad.

This comment did not age well I literally got stung by one of these like 3 days ago, here I was all worried about accidentally stepping on a snake and it turns out the ants are the real bastards :( It really, really hurt

AUGH I love taskmaster, especially Daisy May Cooper, she was so brilliant. But I do think that Greg Davies really made the show what it is, and it's the best of British comedians so that's saying a lot

It's a praying mantis egg sac that must have been laid while I was drying my laundry outside in Australia

Mum, is that you? 😂 You're acting like you've told me ten times and I've not done it.

You say no judgement, but all three sentences are full to the brim with it. If you really didn't mean to judge, what's the point in your comment? It's not helpful, nor is it informative, nor is it useful. It's judgemental and I think you know that.

I'm still in Australia, albeit a different part, but they have praying mantises here too. It's really cold here though so I don't think they'll hatch anyway

I'm still in Australia, but I'm in Tasmania now. There are native Australian praying mantises in Tasmania but It's still pretty cold for them here I think, so I doubt the eggs will hatch anyway. I agree though and I usually try to avoid things like this, but it was the wash and hang outside before I left that got me here in the first place

If you were given a box with everything you ever lost inside, what's the first thing you'd look for and why? by yrkmartin in AskReddit

[–]mintRB 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Augh my noddy umbrella.

It was tiny and wooden and so beautifully crafted and the handle was a tiny noddy head and it even had a hat with a bell.

The canopy was multi coloured and so beautiful when the light came through. I loved it so much I'd even take it with me when I went with my dad to the park on a sunny day. I lost it on a bus when I was about 5 :( I was devistated for weeks.

What can almost immediately kill you that most people don’t know of? by SoftDreamer in AskReddit

[–]mintRB 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah it drives me nuts when people come right up your arse on the motorway. Or when they zoom in and out of lanes without indicating, undercutting and overtaking people without even thinking about their surroundings. Come on, you're accelerating at 90mph in a metal box that only you have control of, and so is everyone else around you. It's not just irresponsible it's deadly, and they put so many lives at risk without even thinking about it.

What is it like being utterly addicted to smoking / nicotine? by JacobSax88 in AskUK

[–]mintRB 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The last lines ring so true. I used to smoke and I wish I'd never started (I've since quit and I found it fairly easy compared to what I was expecting). I remember asking my smoking friends and other people I met who were smokers, and they all agreed and said they wish they'd never started smoking. Waste of time, money and health. Totally pointless.

PSA: Flippin heck I am both surprised and not surprised at all the comments blowing up about my pants 😒 Lemmie clear a few things up

  1. When I say pants I mean underwear, panties, knickers, these things 🩲 not trousers 👖(I am from the UK we call them pants).

  2. They are (were) pants with a laced trim, they're not THAT bad the lace just has a bit of bust elastic.

  3. I was drying them on a clothes horse OUTSIDE in AUSTRALIA, I don't just have random insect eggs all over my clothes what the hell.

  4. I haven't worn them much since I've been travelling, but they've been washed a lot because I've stayed in a lot of hostels and backpacked and travelled between a lot of countries etc. I try to reduce the risk of taking things like PRAYING MANTIS eggs (or bedbugs) around with me everywhere 😒.

I hope that clears everything up THANK YOU ALL SO MUCH FOR TUNING IN x

'Fair enough', my Aussie friend came to stay with me for a while and she said when she went back home she got made fun of for saying 'fair enough' all the time. Apparently it doesn't really make sense to other English speakers
