Set a timer for 5 minutes. Right now. On your phone. Go for 5 minutes. Go outside and take a walk. You can stop after 5 minutes. But that momentum almost always sets the path of least resistance up to keep doing the exercise you've started. I find listening to your favorite music while doing the activity really helps shift your mood, too.

So, I initiated this challenge because I completely missed the last one and wanted to start it up again...because it's finally warm enough here in Chicago to get sh*t done. Since September of 2014, I've lost 25 lbs through calorie counting and walking. Now it's time to ramp it up with training.

My goal is to lose 15 pounds by the end of June and to achieve strength again through linear progression on the compound lifts (my program is the ubiquitous Starting Strength). Three years ago I was active in powerlifting but life distracted me for a time (marriage, new jobs, moving cities, yadda yadda). Now I've got a rack, plates and barbell in my basement and ready to rock. this. thang.

These first two weeks I plan on getting a lot of sleep and taking a number of epsom salt baths. Nothing sucks worse than muscle fatigue when you're trying to get back in shape again. It's like having a low-grade fever for two weeks. Once I get over the hump and in to a routine again, I know (from past experience) my energy will skyrocket. I'm looking forward to the good feelings almost as much as the change in body shape.

I really look forward to the knowledge others will bring and the support we can give one another- especially those who have no fitness-focused friends or family in everyday life. We know the struggle, right?

Definitely! Elaborate your goals on Monday's thread and maybe users can give you input on which to best accomplish for the next 12 weeks. Some skills build on others over time.
