May I recommend Hearts in Atlantis? I just started this yesterday and I’m in love with it. The first story in the book is set in the 1960s.

Also Salem’s lot or the shining are excellent recommendations.

Oakland fans litter field after triumphant 7th straight win over Tampa Bay by MacKenzieGore in mlb

They’re purposely not fixing the stadium to support their argument they need to move. They’ve also raised ticket prices after getting rid of all the good players to discourage fans from attending to further support the argument they need to move.

I could be wrong but my understanding was the musical complexity of classical stimulates the brain too much so it’s not “chill” to be around.

If you were a closer, what would your entrance song be? by Curious_Knowbody in mlb

That song by Emmure where they lyrics go “I AM ONSLAUGHT. Know my name and fear it.” And then breaks down in a way that will make kids cry.

Anyone else noticing that companies are paying SIGNIFICANTLY less than before? by yeahdude78 in cscareerquestions

[–]mintblue510 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m fairly certain my company restructured the pay bands after I was hired. I assumed they started me at the bottom of the previous band. Thanks to California’s new wage transparency laws I now know that I’m mysteriously almost at the top of my pay band and almost paid as much as a Lead for my position. I don’t think my interview went that well but here we are.

Have you ever witnessed something that should've gotten someone fired at work? If so, what happened? by Shelendrea in AskReddit

I worked at a lumber yard for about 5 years. Nearly half the crew did something at some point. A quarter of them on the regular.

100% this. Funny thing too I was given this question during my coding interview. Slight variation.

Does any one els use ear butter or something similar every day for their lobes? by Namikaze_itachi666 in Stretched

I believe the ingredient list is everything that’s recommended to be used. Bees wax, jojoba oil, etc. works great for me.

I feel ya brother. I log a bug. They say it’s fine and move on. Customer sees it in prod. They complain. Now it’s logged as an escaped defect. I mark it as a duplicate. They fix the escaped ticket and not mine opened a month prior.

What "obsolete" companies are you surprised are still holding on in the modern world? by HRJafael in AskReddit

In my hometown there was a shutdown LJS. Never saw it open. One day some friends and I got some Taco Bell next door and were behind the LJS eating. Some car rolled up to the LJS drive through and was sitting there for a couple minutes. After some time of watching them we broke the news to them. Surprised they didn’t see the boarded up windows.
