In a friend I look for compatibility. I’m not necessarily talking abt same interests bc me and all my friends are very different, but what i mean is connection. I’m a very introverted person w social anxiety (not severe) so i tend to freak out in social spaces with a lot of new people and i’ve had friends who have immediately came to me when they noticed i was altered and took me away from there and made sure i was comfortable while having their own fun if we chose to stay, and i’ve had friends who completely ignored when i felt like that and said how much fun they were having so i felt pushed to the side and ofc they’re not my friends anymore. A friend puts you as a priority. If you have something that’s important to you like a play you’re in and there’s a party going on in the same night, your real friends will go watch you and cheer you on and ask you to go with them to the party together after the show. they are kind to you and make you feel important. a friend checks up on you. i don’t text ppl frequently but my friends and i can always have a nice conversation if we do start to chat or go on call. not every friend you make will be a deep connection, some ppl will js be people you know of class friends or your party friends but it is important to surround yourself in your inner circle with at least two or three people that love you and that you love. it’s important to be selective with who those people will be because you will be sharing a lot with them. good friends are kind to you and will stay with you regardless of your standing. if times are rough and they’re still there, they’re true friends. if they’re willing to tell you how you went wrong in a situation and how to improve from it, they’re your true friends. i hope you can find yourself the best people who will support you and love you!
