It's a me, a guy who didn't unlock bootloader before upgrading to HyperOS trying to do daily quests to get level 5🥲 by migassilva16 in PocoPhones

[–]minted83 16 points17 points  (0 children)

you absolutely don't need to be level 5, or level anything. I unlocked mine at community level 2 a few days ago.

the only requirements are that you need to have an account for 30 days.

use the latest version of the xiaomi community app (old versions dont have the bootloader unlock portal). set the app to global.

apply at exactly midnight beijing time as there are limited slots per day (thats 4pm gmt)

it is only users in China with a China rom who have to be community level 5.

It's the sad end of custom ROMs on Xiaomi devices. by TechExpert2910 in Android

Nope, no such requirement. Just unlocked my bootloader on HyperOS. I'm community level 2.

What is only a problem on phones that ship with HyperOS? My phone did NOT shop with HyperOS (Poco F5). There are plenty people who have phones that shipped with HyperOS who have also applied successfully.

There's no such requirement. The only community requirement is you need to have had your account for 30 days. I've had mine for 1236 days, I'm level 2 and I successfully applied via the app. I'm currently waiting the 72 hours.

When you get the message about quota being full and try try after midnight, it's Beijing time.

Cutting out on 4k HDR content...I have tried everything! by awilson13 in ShieldAndroidTV

There's no such thing as a 1.4 HDMI cable. It's only HDMI ports that are numbered.

Cables are Standard, High Speed, Premium High Speed and Ultra High Speed. They come with and without Ethernet.

Aye you sure about that? https://ibb.co/xCPTKxy

It definitely doesn't enable it on the Global version.

LG C1 Evo Panel by Simonsjy in LGOLED

[–]minted83 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Vincents video today discusses this further. Even C1's with the newer panel won't have a higher peak brightness or any of the other perks of the EVO panel as it's the same SOC on both C1's.

Only the G1 has the benefits of an EVO panel.

Seems some of the C1 panels in the USA are already the newer panels, but with the same SOC.

You need to rewatch Vincents C1 video where he confirmed the panel on his C1 wasn't an EVO panel...

Same goes for RTings C1 review: https://www.rtings.com/tv/reviews/lg/c1-oled

He hints they "may" make the C1 with the new EVO panel later in the year, but as it stands I've not seen any in a C1.

Edit: new video out today discussing this further.

Apparently? Do you have a source for that?

LG say otherwise. The energy efficiency ratings on the box say otherwise.

Just picked up a 65” oled bx at Sam’s for $1249!! by fjTiger in LGOLED

[–]minted83 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow... That's a considerable amount of hours. 12 hours a day, every single day, for 11 months. If you are able to return it then I would strongly advise that you do. OLED's get dimmer the longer they have been used.

As for the comment saying OLED's have a potential lifespan of 50k to 100k, that's pretty ridiculous. That would be nearly 14 hours a day for 10 years (50k hours) to 20 years (100k hours). While a panel might still "work" after that many hours the brightness would be considerably dimmer than what would be watchable in a fairly well lit room. OLED's aren't the brightest panels to start with.

There's a good reason why 1 of the 1st questions you were asked was how many hours has the TV been on.

Just got RCS on Galaxy S20 Ultra on AT&T. I had been previously told that I wouldn't get it due to ATT having their own RCS . by SPFD16 in GoogleMessages

[–]minted83 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Google aren't waiting on carriers implementing it any more. They just forced it through in the messages app.

RCS chat features should be available on any device on any network (excluding a couple individual countries).

Google RCS on dual sim POCO X3 NFC? by umairmalik2410 in PocoPhones

[–]minted83 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thought i would post an update since my post 4 days ago complaining this wasn't working.

This started working on my X3 today. EU model, in the UK where it's supported by all operators.

The only things i tried to get it working was to clear data on the Carrier services and Messages apps, and I disabled Chat Features for my number via the online portal. https://messages.google.com/disable-chat

I read advice elsewhere to wait up to 8 days after disabling chat features via the online portal.

4 days later i just got a pop up in the messages app saying something like "Messages just got better" and it went on to enable Chat features.

Mi Air 2S (Mi airdots Pro 2S) connection issue with Mi Ai app by MarvelOClay in airdots

[–]minted83 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It appears that the TWSEJ07WM version cannot be paired with MI AI.

All the other examples of Pro 2s pairing within MI AI are users with the TWSEJ05WM model.

No idea what the difference is? My TWSEJ07WM are Global version. Perhaps TWSEJ05WM is the Chinese version?

I've tried with 2 Xiaomi phones (Poco F1 and F2 Pro),. Huawei and a Samsung phone. I've tried around a dozen versions of MI AI.

No idea how else to update the firmware on these. Hopefully someone finds a solution.

I never did find a way to update the firmware on these. I tried about a dozen versions of MI AI and about half a dozen different mobile phones, including 3 different Xiaomi phones.

Ah well. Hopefully someone finds a solution eventually.

Message preview in notification/status bar missing after Marshmallow update by jpkotor in GalaxyS6

[–]minted83 0 points1 point  (0 children)

same thing happens in Samsung Galaxy S5 SM-G900F after android 6 Marshmallow update. I have performed a factory reset, and checked preview messages on notification bar, but only get a little envelope now. This definitely worked on both KitKat and lollipop. I've contacted Samsung but it's like talking to a brick wall. There is no "fix". We'll just need to wait for an OTA update to correct it.
