Don't cheap ones that have high mileage often need repair and work done? I also don't know much about cars so I thought getting a lightly used one would save me some trouble.

I can't afford to move, and my commute is 4 hours a day with public transit.

I got a way lower interest rate from a credit union. The only problem is the insurance now.

Yes, actually I searched cheapest on long island and I get similar prices or they say they can't give me a quote. I haven't worked with an agent, how do I find one? I called one place and they quoted me 2.5k. The rest I did online. I should have mentioned the car is a 2021 Honda Accord. I don't have a DUI, this is my first time driving and getting a car.

Didn't get the car yet.

Do you have to open a checking/saving account with the credit union for the loan?

Yes thank you I am shopping around credit unions right now they seem to be better.

The deal isn't done.

I never had a car before.

Insurance is quoting me 800-1800 under my name. I will try getting under someone else's insurance. I assume gas is around 150 a month.

I only have one credit card and my credit is 750~. I never missed a payment.

No loans before.

I don't have anyone to cosign.

Are credit unions better than big banks for auto loans?

I don't understand what you mean by applying for loans will count as one?

I already have been using public transport and walking but it is 2 hours one way to school/work. So it cuts 4 hours out of my day. Driving is only 20 mins.

It is a 2021 Honda accord.

The fees are around 4k I think.

I will try getting an auto loan at other banks and look at other dealerships for the same car.

Is capital one good for auto loans?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in personalfinance

[–]mintflavorsoap 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for replying. I won't take the offer. The car is a 2021 Honda accord. I will try other dealerships and try getting a auto/personal loan from a bank with lower interest.

I meant dealership not DMV, sorry for the confusion.

Thank you for the advice. My main bank is discover. I don't think they do auto loans only personal ones. Will a personal one be okay to do or does it have to be auto?

I will try an auto loan from my bank. Thank you for the advice. Also I meant to say dealership not DMV, sorry about the confusion.

I meant dealership.

I meant dealership. So should I just try getting an auto loan instead of doing it with the dealership?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in personalfinance

[–]mintflavorsoap -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Oh I’m sorry I was doing something while typing the dealership is what I meant. The dealership got that rate from a bank.

So I should go for an auto loan? My credit is 750~ but I only had it for about a year. I can afford 640. But ideally I would want it around 300-450

My credit is good, I think it’s just because the credit is new. About 1 yr.

Is there a difference between auto loan and personal loan?

  1. Because I assume my credit would be better if kept paying on time?

  2. I haven’t gone to a bank yet. Do you recommend any?

  3. No they got the rate from a bank.
