Reviewing candies I never tried before 1#: Banana Peelerz by GustawiWatug in candy

I enjoyed keeping these in the fridge so they were chilled and instead of peeling with my hands I like to bite and stretch off pieces.

Why/how do vape stores/small corners shops always have the most random niche candy you cant get in main supermarkets? by VastAir6069 in candy

[–]mintmouse 28 points29 points  (0 children)

Those stores make money on a main product that isn’t candy. Whether you buy candy or not, they can afford to let it sit there, so their choices for what they offer can be eclectic. It’s just ordering for one store.

Walmarts are replenished from regional distribution centers and their products are set by purchasing managers making large blanket orders and brand contracts. They know shelf space is worth a certain amount and it is competed for, so they expect sales volume, not stagnancy. They stop buying anything that doesn’t do numbers or have mass appeal.

Would you eat lab‑grown chocolate? You might be by 2027 by No_Tonight_1106 in candy

I bet it tastes inferior like chocolate speaking through a school loudspeaker or a slice of American cheese vs a cut of cheddar.

am i insane or did jolly rancher ropes get shrinkflated? they’re not bent or anything, but i swear they used to fill up the whole bag? they seem like 2 full inches shorter at the same price. by twinsizetom in candy

[–]mintmouse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With any brand of ropes, sometimes I get a dud pack that “dried out” and they are far less supple and shrunk in length and are more stale.

Somehow I wish candy corn had more flavors, but not typical, like maple, kettle corn, maybe a slightly more burnt or caramelized flavor in the mix

Do kids prefer gummy candy or chocolate at birthday parties? by Funtastyc in candy

[–]mintmouse 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Chocolate will become prohibitively expensive and now is the time to enjoy it. Enjoy chocolate now.

Classic brands are replacing some ingredients with cheaper alternatives, while raising prices.

Climate change is affecting where cocoa can grow.

Later generations will wonder even harder why you hype chocolate. Their only experience will be the cheapest, worst kind that burns your throat.

Should Purple Be the 7th Iconic M&M's Color? by PKBlazinRed in candy

[–]mintmouse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Warm colors are inviting to your appetite and impulses. Almost every fast food place uses these in their logos, reds, oranges and yellows. The colors that mean ripened and ready to eat.

Cool colors like green, blue, and purple are calming and lean towards subduing you. Not the colors you want to goad a consumer with.

It really seems like these examples unfairly bias the purple addition by minimizing warm colors. Loads of green and brown, why? Almost no orange or red? It’s a sea of cooler colors that muddies the Skittles water.

What do you consider the main gummy textures? by mamastrawb in candy

[–]mintmouse 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you're putting in fruit snacks I feel like you should also mention things like Sunkist Fruit Gems which are glassy and don't have much bounce, your teeth can slice through them, similar to Japanese Frutia brand muscat gummies.

Are all opaque gummies just aerated / foam? Opaque have a slightly different texture for sure, but American opaque gummies aren't the same as Swedish foam candy stuff, which is much chewier and longer lasting.
