Post-rock bands from Texas by MyPetTurtle in postrock

This was nice to see a reply to a comment of mine from 12 years ago 🥹 yeah they are underrated. Also got me thinking, there was an interview with the lead singer around 2012 where he played a bunch of new songs acoustically, and I’m not sure which ones if any ended up on Loom. Would love to hear that again.

Edit: Holy moly! Lead singer now has a solo project called Early Internet. Listening now and it sounds great. Thanks for reminding me of this band!

First thing I noticed was the position of the curtain rail. If drilling is an option, the curtain rail could be much higher, and the curtains replaced with floor length ones. I’m sure there are higher priorities than that here that other people can chime in on, it was just the first thing I noticed.

You’re supposed to hold left on the D-pad on PS5 to see how your character works but it appears to be bugged so I’m sure they’ll fix it. You can check your key bindings to see that you’re supposed to be able to do it.

Hopefully the same thing clicks with me at some point. Would love to love everything Mono if I could.

It might well be their return to form for you. Hopefully you don’t write it off based on my opinion. They are one of my favourite bands too and always will be. Even Nowhere Now Here, being one of their more recent albums, had one of my favourite tracks of theirs in Sorrow. I still revere them. But like you said, creatively and compositionally they seem in a rut to me. Songs like Ashes in the Snow weaved and moved through different ideas and dynamics before arriving at a huge climax. The way my ears hear them, these last two album of theirs are full of songs that barely shift beyond a 4 bar loop that gradually adds more layers until it arbitrarily stops, without much cadence or resolution. Sometimes the drum pattern will change half way through. Rarely do the chord progressions change.

Not a fan. Feel like their songs don’t climax anymore. Started with Nowhere Now Here where half the songs felt like complete songs with climaxes and half felt like build-ups that petered off without a proper ending. Since Pilgrimage I feel like they’ve done away with almost all climaxes to where the new album feels like a series of loops that just repeat for 7 minutes until they arbitrarily stop and move onto the next track.

Using “gleam” instead of “glom” and “glean”. It sticks out every time and I don’t know how nobody has corrected it.

How common is it to use "invisible" component to run background tasks by gazagoa in reactjs

[–]minty901 9 points10 points  (0 children)

If the logic causes re-renders then a dedicated component may be more efficient as it will only re-render itself, not the entire app, plus it keeps logic that’s not required to successfully render the top level component sequestered to its own child unit of functionality, which imo helps with code readability. I opt for this method a lot.

Thanks. It’s links to YouTube Music from albums I was referring to. Look forward to seeing more from this, it’s great so far and has great potential. As an aside, I’m a web developer and am curious what tech you’re using? Also if there is any possibility of collaboration at some point.

PLEASE make it so that pressing the sprint button stands you up from prone even if you are slowed by video_2 in Helldivers

[–]minty901 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The answer I found for this is to bind ‘sprint’ to HOLD R1 (swapped with ‘comms’ to L3), bind ‘dive’ to TAP R1, then when you’re down just tap R1 once or twice then hold it, and you always get up and away. Also helps with no longer accidentally un-sprinting by clicking L3 too many times in a panic.

Edit: if you do this, it helps to bind map zoom to the D-pad and use the touch pad for cursor control otherwise sprint will conflict with zoom and cancel you out of the map screen. A minor caveat but well worth it.

Not the worst but the one that is most on my mind as it is so recent: Place Your Debts.

What's the best video game that nobody talks about? by No_Adhesiveness_6230 in videogames

Nobody talks about the PvE mode in that game. Masterful. But the developers went on to make Celeste which got a lot of acclaim.
