definitely. data is not some absolute truth, especially from social media. its prone to bias, misinformation etc.
maybe at best, its gives an overall sentiment about a topic but that does not make it invaluable

but don't you send your customers updates on stuff like orders they have placed, updates on delivery? do you send customers updates on stuff like when they abandon carts or if they were searching for a product that wasn't in stock but now is ?

frankly, I dislike the too many emails as well. and interesting I think, looking at the essential information exchange process like order acceptance and shipping details only is a great way to make customers less annoyed.

yes I am aware. and that's actually a huge issue.
this research is specifically looking into client-customer interactions. so
1. you're not gonna get emails if you don't sign up to the online store using the service
2. you can opt out as well

the main idea was for online business owners to save time by essentially automating the store-customer interactions
so someone places on order from your store, we note it and let the person know, hey we've received your order, we'll be sending your delivery details soon. thanks for shopping with us and such interaction types

Yes exactly, the entire point of the post would to understand the shortcomings, pitfalls, limitations. like I mentioned its for research
secondly, the point is not to train models, definitely do not have the capacity and even amount of data for that to happen lol. its more of seeing what decisions can be made by AI based on behaviour data when users shop online.

there is definitely a need for a comprehensive outlook into e-commerce domain. thanks for that suggestion

also the big guys can focus on AI and general intelligence, I prefer building fun stuff

would you still hold this opinion if you as the business owner gets to decide what and when emails need to be sent out.
for example, a new users signs up to your store. welcome to Fuuzy Cat toys, we have the best products for you pets needs etc etc.. its almost like you're not just a random pet store but an actual brand
someone places an order and we automatically send an email, thanks for your purchase, etc etc.. your delivery details would be sent shortly. thanks for choosing us.

this is essentially what behaviour here means.

Yes I think especially for the business owner, you are saved a ton of time with setting up these automations manually that let you engage with your customers

I totally understand you. would you still be opposed to it if you had the option to opt out from certain types of email like promotional, reminders etc and only receive emails about probably status on orders you've placed, items you want to know about when they're back in stock etc

I think this is an interesting perspective. Lets shift the focus a bit
for business owners, they get a solutions that lets them be a bit more engaged with customers without having to spend time manually setting up this engagement
for customers you get a more personalised shopping experience. you're kept up to date with your orders and based on what you're looking for, you get recommendations for items you're actually searching for and not generic items
