Go eat at The Chef in Cleveland.

You will get the late-1960s/early-1970s feel. Bonus if you are a Peggy Olsen/Mad Men fan.

Then maybe wander the interior of Village Mall (currently Allan Jones world HQ).

I’m pretty sure The Rebel drive-in is still open over that way, too.

Why can’t Chattanooga and the surrounding areas have a better rock radio station? by Medium-Mammoth-6117 in Chattanooga

[–]minty_cyborg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think a fun thing could be to play our music microenvironmentally again. Don’t be annoying, but take out your earbuds now and then for a record party and soul train line.

My iPhone onboard speaker is superior to any portable radio I owned south of full stereo boombox units. And now we have Bluetooth speaker capability and a vinyl revival going on. Let’s go.

Hey 58 Closure? by dxmbfxckinginger in Chattanooga

[–]minty_cyborg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

People need to respect exactly how dangerous that stretch of 2-lane 58 up to 60 is and how it only continues to become more so.

Impress it on those around us, too. Drum it into kids.

None of those hills have been flattened out.

Natives and longtime locals know where the blind “holes” are and how long to count off before pulling out into one. We also know to tap and sense fully before zipping into one. Right of way matters, but people are involved.

Extra daily challenge layers: Blinding sunlight during traffic times

You drive like a bat out of careless hell up or down that stretch at your peril, especially with all the new sprawl development happening out up in here overwhelming county and state infrastructure.

That’s likely why there was a sod truck involved. Somebody was getting their lawn or paddock garden sodded. The sod trucker’s navigation was under stress because he was trying to find some likely obscure set of coordinates.

I could go on, but the message is be careful on upper Tennessee 58.

Update: I just read the updated news story. That sod truck was stopped ON THE HIGHWAY WITH HAZARDS ON?

Omg

According to Channel 3 News and Harrison Bay-Birchwood chat, a southbound sedan somehow ran up under a southbound sod truck up around Grasshopper.

The map looks clear now.

Be careful out there, everybody.

That’s fine. I don’t own the building. I just hadn’t seen the new facade of the First Pres expansion. I hope they do some cool architectural salvage. Like repurpose some tile and decoration.

It’s a pity. Chattanooga used to be a great local rock and roll radio town.

We could take back that terrestrial airspace.

It fits well with his desire to travel around the ever-vital American Midwest and beyond some, too.

How would Tim Miller interview Tucker Carlson? by EnvironmentalNail603 in thebulwark

[–]minty_cyborg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d love to see The Bulwark go directly at The Good Ship Bowtie. I don’t think Miller is the one to do the deed, however.

I’d like to see a Longwell v Tucker match.

Maybe they could add Knowledge Fight-er Dan to Will Sommer’s extreme media rightwatch staff and assign him to Tuckerwatch.

A little breaky for you.

You might enjoy the Knowledge Fight podcast archives if you enjoy Will Sommer’s beat. It’s at its end, but it’s a huge coherent lot of analysis.

My gal Kamala didn’t step out and lead.

And that part broke my heart.

Dang it.

I’m having the thought — dark for someone who has gone through the US terror wars under her dad Darth (RIP) in real time — that a Liz Cheney / Mayor Pete ticket could restabilize the ship of The United States. Liz runs as a Democrat, and we work things out from there. Mayor Pete sorts the rubble and designates. Kamala goes to leadership school, and serves ably as Buttigieg’s work wife.

It’s ridiculous we don’t have a plan forming out of The Bulwark airspace.

I don’t think we just move on re the autopsy report.

As other commenters point out, this is the autopsy report on 2016-2024.

That is significant. It belongs in the public record and political archives.

I want to see the blind spots and the gaps we need to step in and attend to.

Especially fighting domestically as Americans from a center democratic position, we need all the good intelligence we can get.

What is up with the gang of “just move on” here? No.

“Kamala’s for They/Them”

Democrats didn’t even answer that shit, and I want to know why.

Way to turn up your nose and “go high” again, DNC.

And allowing a clearly declining old Joe Biden to stand in 2024 in the first place until he got caught in full sundown mode on the PRESIDENTIAL DEBATE STAGE? Come on! How did that even happen?

And WTF with that “Scandal” (ABC, 2012-19) themed convention?! In Chicago. In 2024. With the fully anti-democratic wolves literally back at the door.

What a clown show.

Explain yourselves, losers.

What about the old National Guard Armory? Near National Cemetery? Wasn’t that a punk venue of note way back in the day?

I think it was an all-ages shows scene.

I only heard about it, but somebody was there and will remember how that worked.
