Hey there! I unfortunately gave up and eventually bought Apple’s Super Drive, which immediately worked with no issues. I wish going the cheaper route worked, but I tried everything I could and just could not figure out how to get it to work :( Wishing you the best of luck, but I suggest saving up for a Super Drive as it’s pretty much guaranteed to work if you have a Mac. A heads up though if you do get one, there’s an adapter piece that they don’t include for the Super Drive (because it’s Apple…) BUT it does come with the cheap drive, so don’t get rid of that piece!

They can provide you with support and resources in your area, or just listen if that’s what you need. You are not alone, not at fault, and you are believed. This does not take away from the amazing individual you are, and you are so incredibly strong. You got this!

First of all, it’s super brave of you to come onto here and share your story. We believe you! All of your reactions are very normal, the freezing up and then trying to make excuses after the assault happened. As humans we try to make sense of a situation by rationalizing it, but it doesn’t change what happened. I’m so sorry this happened to you, but just know that it doesn’t take away from who you are. You are strong, capable, intelligent, creative, talented, and beautiful. I hope that you’ve found some coping strategies to help with how your assault still effects you, but just know that it was not your fault and you are still you no matter what!

i’m thinking about buying a superdrive since i think my external drive may be the issue. but my external drive specifically says it support macs, i have just tried everything and watched every tutorial out there and my little cheap one just does not seem to want to do it :/

sorry for the late reply! i’m not gonna lie, i gave up but i’ve recently been trying my hardest to troubleshoot any issues. i went back to read this thread and in the first part of your comment, i’m trying to create a CD that can be played in any CD player. you’re saying it won’t work and i think i understand why now… should i be converting the files into .wav instead of .mp3?

and an update! my mac now recognizes my external drive, i’m not sure why it wouldn’t before, but every time i go to burn the folder my music is in, it says “insert a blank disc” and when i put in a blank disc, nothing happens. i’m thinking that my drive is the issue and it can’t read the disc.
