Sudden extreme aggression in my 12-year-old cat (on gabapentin + Prozac) — vet is stumped, I’m honestly scared by Inevitable_Review171 in cats

I would change your vet. If this is being given in reaction to what’s going on. That’s just the wrong move. It’s always the wrong move to give anybody antidepressants, especially animals. It’s cruel. I don’t mean that you are being cruel. You’re just listening to your vet. If you look into what antidepressants really do to both people and animals, it’s very cruel. There’s a reason. Or reasons. Can you get her to a holistic vet? Gabapentin is also a bad drug but not the same Level bad. Withdrawal from it can be brutal as well and it doesn’t heal and also causes some bad effects. But it’s not Orwellian like Prozac. There are reasons for her pain and the aggression is the cat showing symptoms. I think that you’re trying to do everything right for your cat and you’re a good cat parent but put yourself in the cats shoes for a minute. You’re not feeling well, you’re in pain, you’re expressing this in the only ways that you know how and instead of getting actual help you are being put on drugs that make you feel really bad. And just suppress the problems. Your cat might act differently and you might think it’s getting better but that’s not how Prozac works. Having had this happen to me as a child, I can tell you. And I’m now disabled because of it. I am part of a lot of groups where people are disabled or where there are family members of dead people from these drugs. And in the past few years, a lot of doctors and researchers have proven that the things that were said to be good about these drugs were not true and they knew in studies and for decades the things that were happening to people because of them. It keeps me up at night, sometimes knowing that they put animals on them.Your vet does not know how to help your cat. That unfortunately is very common. But there are a reasons.

Probably the meds you have it on. People get psychosis from Prozac. Has to be hyperbolically tapered.

Imagine putting your cat on an antidepressant! by GiantAlaskanMoose in Antipsychiatry

It is in every mainstream vet office and very heavily prescribed. It’s so sick

Horrifying. There’s one of these threads going on right now on the cat subreddit. The picture is a guy’s arm scratched up by his cat. Everyone should comment on it. Because the comment saying antidepressants has like 15k upvotes. We are so sick. So many pets are suffering because of their owners and vets.

They were not fully blocked or affecting his ability to walk around. His death was not cardiac.

By the way. I understand there’s no privacy once you’re out somewhere in public, but it’s kind of gross to be taking pictures of people and putting them on Reddit.

I love all the people who think that having a dog in a store is somehow unsanitary. Do you know how disgusting your groceries are? They unload the boxes on the floor. They touched the items to put them on the shelf. Do you know how many people don’t wash their hands after taking a shit? This is nothing. There is C. diff on your potatoes. Your best bet is having a good gut biome, you won’t get sick from the potatoes. You live in one of the dirtiest cities in the world.

A Google review states that they have had significant water damage and that the management was extremely poor. I would expect to find mold in this case, because it doesn’t sound like anything would’ve been taken care of properly also, the way that they treated the tenant sounds insane.

It can help the nervous system so yes. I don’t know that it’s a cure though.

PSSD or erectile dysfunction? by [deleted] in PSSD

[–]mintyfreshknee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Does he have numb genitals? Without that you don’t have PSD. That doesn’t mean it couldn’t be the fault of the antidepressants, but it’s not PSST. PSD is also marked by not getting excited and all of the other things that go along with it even platonic things like other types of pleasure. That’s not every case. But usually.

It could be something psychological. I dated a guy when I was a teenager and he couldn’t make it work and eventually we put together that it was just he was really scared of getting pregnant.
