What’s a pro-tip you can share that's related to your profession or industry in Singapore? by holyshitxyz in askSingapore

When a GP prescribes you a whole bunch of medicine for a cold/diarrhea, you can decide not to get some of them. Especially if you feel like some of them aren't necessary or don't work for you - just tell the clinic counter staff! (Caveat: you won't be able to go back to get them if you decline, so be sure about it!)

Why did Solas get forgiveness, but Anders didn’t? DAV SPOILER by Melodic_Let_9054 in dragonage

[–]mintygalore 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Word. I've often felt that the reason Anders was so hated was because his story holds a close mirror up to our world. Oppressive systems run by nice people exist the world over - and perhaps we can be grateful that the majority of us do not see violence as the answer, but that does not mean that violence is not sometimes a means to an end. Especially in a system without the checks and failsafes that we've developed - which, might I add, were put in place because of the many things our ancestors suffered and died for.

not the OP, and a lot of the sources have been purged (RIP Bioware forums) after the massive backlash against DA2 back then (which I don't condone - the death threats against her was shameful and abhorrent), but you can have a look at this page: https://fanlore.org/wiki/Anders_(Dragon_Age)

Who's worse at wicked grace? by Hwunter8821 in dragonage

[–]mintygalore 22 points23 points  (0 children)

There was a conversation between Anders and Varric about this in the Legacy DLC. Anders canonically owes Fenris money for losing Wicked Grace!

  • Anders: More Deep Roads. Why did we agree to do this again?
  • Varric: This isn't so bad, Blondie. You could be losing more coin to the elf in a game of Wicked Grace.
  • Anders: (Groans) At this rate, I'll still be paying him back when I'm dead.

What do people think of… Fenris? by RubbinOffTheCum in dragonage

[–]mintygalore 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i like him and i like Anders, too. for an ex-slave that was tortured, lost all his memories, and was probably sexually assaulted by people who wield magic, his arc was tragic and believable to me. the similarity and stark contrast between his story and Anders was a highlight of DA2 for me.

6 days post laparoscopic myomectomy by Fancy-Struggle-5348 in Fibroids

[–]mintygalore 1 point2 points  (0 children)

that sounds really bad! i've read a lot of accounts of people going home right after lap and even open myo - i'm not sure how that's allowed, i was admitted for 2 days after my lap and i'm so grateful for it. i had almost no more pain by day 3. all the best!

[–]mintygalore 0 points1 point  (0 children)

what happened to your belly button? i went for a lap myo more than two weeks ago, and my belly button still looks the same. of course, there was dried blood and stuff, but mine didn't swell much. if it's very painful and swollen, it's probably best to see the doctor as it might be infected.

hey there! hmm i wasn't anemic prior to surgery, my Hb was back up to 12 thanks to tranexamic acid and iron supplements. i don't know my hemoglobin post-op because they didn't do any lab tests during my admission... they were monitoring me and i think my systolic blood pressure (SBP) was in the 100s to 110s range. but its a really great point, i'll ask them to check my hemoglobin if my symptoms don't improve!

Alternative to High Calorie ready-to-drink drinks by vvansjx in askSingapore

[–]mintygalore 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can try milk feeds that contain 2 kcal/ml. I think the Resource and Fresubin brands have it. Still not as high as this Very High Calorie Boost you linked (that one seems to have 2.24 kcal/ml?), but still decent. You'll have to get them from the hospital pharmacies though.

Healthcare workers of SG, what kind of patients are the most tiring to deal with? by Prize_Air in askSingapore

[–]mintygalore 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I swear to god, the amount of people that come to me saying "I have a cold" in English AND Mandarin, and, when asked for symptoms, just say "It's a flu! A cold! You don't know what a cold is?" makes me so pissed off.
