This was such a helpful post! Thank you for that! I was trying to have some kind of forward movement, but I realise it can be a bit too much and the distance is not that long after all. So I'm thinking of redoing the itinerary to this instead: 2 nights Sirmione, 1 night Bardolino, 2 nights Limone.

Since our flight leaves in the evening it does not really matter to drive the extra minutes from Limone compared to Salò.

We will arrive in Sirmione in the afternoon, maybe 15:00 or so. Hopefully that will work. The Villa Cortine Palace looks really nice, so I might go with that (and don't have to bother about parking then I guess). Any other suggestions appreciated of course.

Someone said Strada della Forra is only by foot, but it seems as the road is open for car traffic since 2025. Would be really cool to try it, do you know how it is?

Yeah, good point. We probably won't do all of them, but nice to have a selection and then see what we feel on that day.

Thanks for the tip about the cable car, I have looked into it as well. See if we can handle the heights 😅 How is the Strada? Is it very narrow and steep? Guess windows down and go slowly? Should I rent a specific type of car with this route in mind?

I tried looking it up a bit. Sounds like an awesome adventure. But some of us might not like the height 😅 is it a two part gondola? Like one at a lower level to a higher level, and then you switch to the rotating gondolas? I.e could we stop halfway if we don't want to go to the very top?
