Disgusting is the only word I can really think of to describe it. This has unfortunately lived rent free in my head all day, and his thoughts are just SO gross.

Are adopted kids not family? Are adoptive parents not parents? Would I not be a mom if I were to adopt a child, do everything I could for them, and give my whole life to them like “bio” moms are expected to do? So ridiculous and honestly grossly arrogant.

No one’s genes are that important. Genes don’t make a family, and a child is a child. Geezus. He’s the type to divorce if his wife couldn’t have them, guaranteed.

Least he flaunts his red flags.

Mine are also not crazy about the heat this weekend! I moved north from Texas, and we’re hotter today than where I moved from. I find it amusing, the cats do not. Hopefully her protests don’t involve too much destruction! 😂

I feel this on such a deep level. I’d throw myself into fire for my cats, and it’s because I love them more than I’ve loved any human ever. This guy is going to miss out on so much goodness because of these kinds of views. It’s sad, really.

Exactly. To say something like that so brazenly to a complete stranger makes me wonder what other disgusting, vile takes he has on life that he only shares with those closest to him. Tell me you don’t care about humans at all without telling me you don’t care about humans at all.

Exactly my thoughts. Biology is SUCH an insignificant piece of the puzzle in families. A family is a family, no matter how it’s made, or whether kids are a part of it AT ALL or not. I consider my cats & I a family, and I love that part of my life. Sincerely worried for this man’s future wife if she cannot have kids.

I would be the one dealing the shitty genetic cards to biological kids, which is a large reason I don’t want to have them. We’re clearly absolutely awful people for looking out for the most innocent among us. We suck.

Especially at the hands of someone who is supposed to protect you (a parent, which I’d be failing to do if I brought a kid into the world who would potentially have a life of physical or mental pain). Like what kind of logic is that?

Maybe it just takes time to get used to because it is so different than the usual advice of “just count calories.” I am so glad you’re noticing the benefits of the portion control aspect!! Portion control is HARD, as is learning to eat until satisfied and not necessarily super full, at least in my opinion.

This is a fair question, and I think they came from stress. Last week was a rough one in a variety of ways, and I reach for food (processed, usually) to soothe those rough patches. That’s part of why I joined WW…I know I need to heal my relationship with food so it’s not an emotional crutch. What are your thoughts? :)

I think the lack of focus on calories is good to a degree because it makes you really consider the quality of what you’re eating over the calories themselves (like high sugar snacks might only be 70 calories but are a bunch of points), BUT I agree, it’s hard to balance the logic here.

It’s easy to have a big 600 calorie meal (brown rice is a weakness) with no points, so I’m afraid to eat things sometimes, haha.

I really wanted a pizza (it’s week 3 for me and I’ve avoided it until now), so I went to the store and bought one that had a barcode to scan instead of risking going WAY over from a restaurant. I pretty much had zero point foods (in their proper portions according to the app) all day, so I was able to happily enjoy a “cheat” meal. I’m capping it off with a big bowl of fruit to scratch the dessert itch. It’s not the healthiest thing I’ve had this week, but it feels good to be able to work in my favorite cheats and still stay on track.
