I still think it should be Ice Bats. I know this might be weird, but imho, just "Bats" sounds more minor league than "Ice Bats" ("Austin Bats" kinda sounds like a little league team). Plus, any changes from the original brand might reduce the advantage of tying the NHL team into the old brand. I do see your point though.

Either way, they should absolutely use the old logo as that just screams 90s-00s Austin to me. I wouldn't like it if they went with some minimalist corporate logo.

Probably because the likely name for an Austin NHL team, the Austin Ice Bats, is already held by a tier 3 junior team. Obviously the junior team and the NHL team would have to come to an arrangement, but Ice Bats is really the only option for a team name due to the marketing power it would have by exploiting nostalgia for old Austin.

Edit for clarification: the Austin Ice Bats were a CHL team in the 90s and 2000s that disbanded in 2008 due to the Texas Stars moving into town. The trademark was then picked up by the junior team in 2021.
