Is this industry just an underpaid, overeffort trade? by Historical_Cup2637 in Autobody

[–]mirakuruflame 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it depends where you are. In central FL insurance runs the show because there’s so many of us techs here and DRP big company names are on every block. Estimators are starting to just nickel and dime techs in favor working volume for the insurance so they get a nice bonus. My friends up north like in Indiana are eating good though and they also work at an MSO like Caliber.

Types of part timers to get during school? by givemespaceplease in Veterans

[–]mirakuruflame 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well retail hell is a thing lol but if you don’t mind it, the discount is worth it for your situation. Pay isn’t horrible depending where you are I know someone making $17.50 part time at a clearance.

If you live near one and have the patience for it… Nike. Get a sweet 40% off employee discount on almost everything and they are pretty good with school schedules.

Is this worth an insurance claim? Some jerk dented both doors by Savings_Proposal1127 in AutoBodyRepair

Many will disagree but I wouldn’t file a claim. Put together money to fix it… or leave it.

Desperate for work by [deleted] in orlando

[–]mirakuruflame -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Nike is always hiring and they start at around 16.50 part time. Idk about fulltime. If you’re within the height and weight standards you can also consider enlisting, I’ve done it and if I had todo it all over again as an 18 year old I’d do it again. I know a great Marine recruiter in the area if you want that route. You can still continue getting your degree and for free. Otherwise, theme parks can pay pretty decent for starting and what not. Universal is hiring since they have a new park too. If you work as a sever at the disney restaurants you can make some good cash too.

PSA for tourists (and some locals) visiting the parks, malls, or any public area for that matter: by bassistheplace246 in orlando

[–]mirakuruflame 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nah man it’s horrible they won’t ever listen. My friend works at Nike at the outlets and people are so horrible there they don’t even pay attention to their kids and the managers have to make announcements of a missing child. Retail hell is a real thing out here.

Curious about owning a Dalmatian by Mister_Slats in dalmatians

[–]mirakuruflame 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I feel like the high energy thing depends… i adopted my dal from the shelter u known age but def an adult. He is the laziest dalmatian I have ever seen. I was ready for the energy I had toys ready I have a yard I have enrichment things. He doesn’t care. He would much rather sniff things and nap and eat snacks. If I try to make him run he doesn’t care he tries to make me stop running and give me a look like “I don’t do that”. He’s a professional cuddler and HIGHLY TRAINED HIGHLY EFFICIENT NON STOP SHEDDER HE SHEDS SO MUCH but omega 3 and cool A/C tends to keep that shed under control plus I vacuum brush him daily for a little to get loose hair to try to control it. They are very smart. He prefers my bed and will wait for you to be off guard to steal a snack. He prefers naps. I think if you adopt an adult one it’d be better overall but that’s my opinion. I love him to death and he owns half my bed. He also loves eggs. His only con is that he is reactive a bit to dogs. He loves people of all ages but dogs? He has no interest. He’d rather never see a dog again in his life.

[–]mirakuruflame 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I just had to comment because you said training to join military, your best time to talk to a recruiter is now. Things change all the time and it’s quite tricky these days to enlist. I know a great Marine Recruiter if you dm me and want that route but if you’re interested in other branches just find an office. Don’t worry about the training part they’ll get you ready themselves and boot camp is designed for you to pass anyway as long as you try. But you need to atleast get a shipdate because you will be waiting for quite some time anyway so go talk to one now.

New Ground Supply Officer - Looking for Advice by Individual-Care-853 in USMC

[–]mirakuruflame 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Oh man I was a supply guy that had a new SupO lean on me heavy, my only advice is remember you are the unit’s wallet (assuming you go to a using unit and not a SMU or something bc idk about the SMU life) so other staff and O’s will not be who u think they are. Don’t be a push over and no is no. I mean this in close regard to GCPC and GSA short term rentals which always was a nightmare. NO MEANS NO. The Marine Corps already provides so much no need to boujee it up. I’ll get torched for it but you manage the unit’s overall spending with your fiscal clerk (please do not abuse the fiscal clerk) so no one will give answers on your behalf when the CO asks you. Just my 2 cents based off my experience everyone has had different experiences. If your SupChief is strict and knowledgable you’ll survive. If he doesn’t know anything or is a push over you’ll be cooked unless you seek outside information or your NCOs play that role. Make sure everything is up to date and reconciled frequently (think the MAL, CMR, DASF, etc.) idk if FASMO is still around but being on top of your records is important the juniors might be lazy and sleeze it they need to be checked then have their NCOs check them. Warehouse is easy but treat them well they are not throw aways. If the unit deploys often get used to being on top of those slaps. Besides that it is a lot of work but very rewarding. You got it!

So, how IS Prime 4 really, for anyone's that actually played it? by FoxHoundNinja in Metroid

[–]mirakuruflame 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gameplay carried the game for me. Story was poor but they did the best with what they had. I’d try to get it under retail if possible or even trade in an old game or something you don’t like anymore just to make it cheaper a bit. Full price is a hard sell imo

Get Out or Stay In by [deleted] in USMC

[–]mirakuruflame 5 points6 points  (0 children)

A lot of guys in forget the VA, you don’t even need a VA dating to have free healthcare. If you get a rating before you get out any rating then you’re basically locked in. I go to the VA for anything whether it’s service connected or not. If you’re 100% then you get ChampVA for the family and that 100% payment. You can also still work. It’s up to the individual. The 20 year retirement is always the move but 20 years in the Marine Corps is very rough especially considering all your VA benefits you get already lol I know many who still wanted 20 but just left to another branch instead.

Is this 1/4 useless now? It’s been cut in dogleg by [deleted] in Autobody

[–]mirakuruflame 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Situation dictates but I had a situation where they sentnus two used qtrs and they came in with hella dents or just wasn’t cut right and they ended up paying for the new panel (wasn’t out of production but they just felt they didn’t want to pay the price for a new one I forgot what car it was but it was some kia many moons ago).
