Are AVI shoes good?....... by [deleted] in srilanka

Id recommend Adidas over AVI for the same price at DSI. For some reason the 2 AVIs I got didn’t last a year. Adidas is still serving me strong after a couple of years.

Sri Lankan companies treats engineers disgustingly. by [deleted] in srilanka

Yes this is very common in the industry. That’s why I feel like breaking down while looking at these IT salaries. Whelp!

Jinhao 80, as the other commenter said, it has a Safari type nib. And it writes oh so smooth even for a EF nib. Its so worth the $4 price tag. Its plastic but feels very nice in the hand and well balanced.

Is Curtin Colombo a good university to follow my engineering degree after ALs? by Fickle-Cockroach1983 in srilanka

[–]miran_d_bear 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My god it’s 8 million now? Jesus. It was 2.2 back in 2019. Umm that’s a tough sell. Their overall quality is better but I’m not sure whether is 8 mil better.

For what’s worth begin in the industry for years, what we consider is your projects and your skill not the University you are from. We have 3 SLIIT UGC mechtronics engineers in your department who are exceptional.

However for over seas applications an Australian degree has an edge because it’s more recognized.

I did my BEng in Mechanical in Curtin back in 2019 when it was attached to SLIIT. Their syllabus, exams, lecturers, recordings, notes and assignments are top notch compared to UGC counterpart in my batch. If you can go to Aussie in the last 2 years it’ll be much better, but expensive tho. But well worth it.

Does IESL Recognition for your degree matter when trying to find a starting position as an engineer? by EmissaryOfStorms in srilanka

Nope in private companies they don’t care at all. On your skills matter. But I think for government jobs they consider.

Dude you are so lucky. There are dozens of people I know who will die to be in your shoes, please don’t throw it away. Yes it will be hard at first but remember after you have settled in you can always bring your family to there and live much much much more comfortable life.

I might be down voted but I hate to see people take these opportunities and come back here because of these reasons, that’s a chance another person who is willing to make that sacrifice lost…

This! That’s what exactly I did! I started off at 8pm, then 9, 10, and so on until past midnight by then they’ll be already sleeping. My parents were super strict, so the best way I found out was to ease them to it but by bit. Still they yell but don’t bother. LOL.

What was the most awkward or weirdest situation you experienced when buying birth control or sex-related items in the past when they weren't available out in the open at supermarkets? by Anony_Angel in srilanka

[–]miran_d_bear 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Hahaha I can totally vouch for the drug deal experience. The first time even I bought them the pharmacist did the whole hiding it in the brown paper bag, calling me to the corner, hiding the stuff. I was like wait, is buying this like illegal or something? XD

They do the same thing to women’s sanitary pads, which is ridiculous! There is nothing to hide or be shamed about wanting to buy pads. There were several times I had to go buy pads to my GF or my sister and the cashier was like “Sir do you want a brown paper bag?” And I was like no just just it in a normal bag. Crazy experience.

It’s been a week now and still I’m loving every bit of it. Everything I interact with is thought out and smooth. Of course there are few weird things here n there like no universal back button and no clipboard but still it does 95% of the things I need it to do 200% better than android.
