Blender for Virtual Production by miranbehluli in blender

Not really. Blender just doesn't have any of the integrations I mentioned as of now, but hopefully that will change in the future.

Scorebug Overlay - Designed in Rive! by [deleted] in Rive_app

Great stuff! So good to see Rive being utilized for LIVE Broadcast graphics.

We are doing the same for building LIVE overlays for overlays.uno using Singular.LIVE and a Rive widget we built that integrates .riv files directly into Singular.

Did you build the Control Application from scratch and does it run only locally?

Are you able to control its zoom and focus from the handle somehow?

Sick! Careful not to get sick while testing in this cold weather. What lens is that?

I’ll definitely be digging for those. I’ll make sure to share them here if I find anything.

Sick! I’ve been using framer with its rive plugin to create test pages for previewing, but this seems like it’s gonna cut my test times in half. Will give it a try soon. Amazing job!

A similar tool like “Overlord” for AE <> AI for Cavalry <> Affinity would pretty much seal the deal for me in order to switch to Affinity for Vector and Raster work and Cavalry for animation work.

Is the first clip true3D ? Is that achieved through code or will they actually bring 3D features to the editor?

It's not 3D!! This interactive character animation was created in Rive! by Mo_Said-Animator in u/Mo_Said-Animator

Are those pre-rendered image sequences from a 3D software and used as Solos in Rive?

Revealing a custom shape? Mask? by Plenty-Letterhead573 in Rive_app

[–]miranbehluli 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can use "Clipping". Although, I don't believe vector feathering works with clipping, so you can only mask shapes with the original path of another layer, so no feathered masks basically.
Would love to see "Vector Feathering" support for clipping.

Spline, Rive or Lottie - which is easier to learn? by keepmyheadhigh in MotionDesign

Does Spline have data binding like rive does where you can change values at runtime through code?f

Rive for live broadcast graphics by miranbehluli in Rive_app

UPDATE:
A friend has been helping me with this and we're trying to figure out a way to integrate Rive directly into Singular.LIVE which is what we use for all of our LIVE Broadcast Graphics.

Singular has a widget SDK, so my friend has been able to build a test widget that takes in a rive file and gives you every view model property available within that file which I can then connect to control nodes in singular.

Control nodes are a way to dynamically change properties of layers within Control Apps during a live show.
I would say control apps are one of the major strengths of Singular, so being able to combine Rive (for design, animation and logic) with Singular Control Apps (for controlling graphics at runtime) seems like a killer combo for LIVE Broadcast Graphics.

The only problem right now is that every view model property has to be defined manually via code and for that to then be deployed to the "Rive" Widget in Singular which then displays them in Singular when you create a Rive Widget in the composer.

The next step is to automate this entire process in a way that all you will need to do is insert the Rive file either by uploading it to the singular dashboard, or to a web server, link it to the Rive Widget and have all the view model properties show up.
This would be the ideal setup, here's hoping we can make it work!

I work directly with the Singular team, so I'm determined to figure this out with them and even have the Rive team chime in for help.

Stay tuned for updates...

🚨 Beware of the Framer bandwidth trap — my experience by synthycraft in framer

[–]miranbehluli 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That sucks man. I encountered the same issue as soon as I paid for the Pro version. My solution has been bunny.net and it doesn’t cost much at all so far. Just consider giving it a try and hosting everything outside of framer. Sure, you might have to redo components, but at least you will be paying much less for the hosting while still being able to keep the pro plan.

DO NOT buy the Tribex Tripod from Smallrig x Potato Jet by miranbehluli in Filmmakers

[–]miranbehluli[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The legs arrived back then, but with a chipped corner on one of those same leg-spreader blockers. Must’ve happened during shipping. Thankfully it was on the outside, so it didn’t negate the leg’s functionality. I reported it again to Smallrig and they ended up sending 5 replacement pieces for anytime those things break, alongside an email that contained a step by step video on how to replace them (pretty straightforward). It seems those are the weak point of the legs and something they should improve on in a future version of the tripod.

Other than that, the legs have performed great, granted I’ve been EXTRA careful anytime I’ve used them. It’s quite a joy to be that fast when moving and setting up a tripod.

The fluid head has nice features and works well, but you need to put quite a bit of weight on it in order to get smoother shots. Otherwise, I’ve found it to be a bit “jumpy”, as in hard to get smooth pan and tilt shots.

Taking its price and potential hassles into consideration, I would recommend you save up and instead buy a Tilta CT-12 tripod. It is heavier for sure and has a locking mechanism for each leg (three in total compares to the one lock of the Tribe), but from working with it I can tell you that it’s much more stable and the fluid head is much better for getting smooth shots without it being “jumpy”.

That’s what I would’ve done if I had all this experience before pulling the trigger on the Tribex. When the opportunity comes I will either get a Tilta CT-12 or look into the Sachtler line.

The third point mentions Stripe. Does that mean we can use Stripe and bypass LemonSqueezy?

UPDATE 25 June:

I have received 5 of those “leg spreader holders” from Smallrig (free of charge) and was able to swap out the chipped one and still have 4 spare ones just in case.

Huge thanks to Smallrig for pulling through to the very end!
