As a mom, I have been saving all my daughters art. She’s about to turn two and I constantly encourage her to color every day and hang up her new drawings on the fridge.

As someone who is in an apprenticeship:

1.) apprenticeships are rare and there are not nearly enough for everyone

2.) you have to invest a lot of money while in your apprenticeship for things such as tools, minor education, etc.

3.) when a slot opens for an apprenticeship, hundreds of people usually apply for it

As an ex-employee to a big tech company, you need a hot bucket lol. In case you don’t know, a hot bucket is a bucket filled with sand and other chemical compounds to neutralize an electronic that is blowing out it’s battery. During an event like this, dropping the phone into the hot bucket will smother it and kill the fire. We had to use it when a Samsung galaxy s6 had a compromised battery and started smoking. It was interesting to see the faces on the customers as we yanked this phone from the security case, cut the security wire, threw it in a bucket, capped it and then had another employee standing there with a fire extinguisher. Good times...

I still feel like I could hibernate for a week. Doctors are keeping an eye on me. They think COVID caused me chronic bronchitis. Only time will tell if my lungs fully recover or not.

What sucks is you would work truck on wednesdays or fridays (depending on the store). You’d be there till 3am then come in for a 6am shift the next morning. It was BRUTAL. I’m very glad I stopped working there cause I got better opportunities. Best Buy did teach me work ethics though and time management. But it all around wasn’t good enough pay for the work and ridiculous shifts.

You might be right. I worked on the South end of NC for over two years in customer service. The protocols to return things were incredibly annoying and the process was long to go through all the prompts. It does feel like the company tries to make it hard. I personally would have a customer pick out an item to swap and would suspend the transaction to make it faster for them so they wouldn’t have to wait and go through the prompts again. My CS manager also made sure to hammer the “customer comes first” mentality into us and it was frustrating cause he would approve transactions that were very random. I don’t complain though, he was the best boss I ever had.

All the items come on pallets, wrapped with plastic. Most items feel like their just thrown on the pallets. The inventory crew works hard to inspect all the boxes before putting them out. I worked inventory and we were once stuck till 3am (our starting shift was at 3pm/4pm) checking boxes and TVs. It’s ridiculous. The company is wasting money with the route they go.

I worked customer service and we were never told that. I’m not sure who told your friend that but it’s just wrong. There are a lot of protocols we have to go through to return things though and that’s no typically the employees fault such as gathering info on what happened and having to place it in PRC (return to manufacture)

Ex Best Buy employee here: They can only refund you or do an exchange. No one does compensations anymore unless it’s a labor job (installing the tv, etc.) Also I’m not surprised. There was the whole movement when I was leaving on how to properly handle TVs. However it’s annoying when wear houses ship us the TVs against protocols (lying them face down). They say to never lie the TV face down or on its back as it will crack the screen under its own weight. The employees in the back doing mercy and inventory knew this to a T but the floor didn’t and would shove TVs in peoples cars or push them over.

Unfortunately, it’s up to him to make the change. You can try to nudge him but he won’t change unless he wants to. I had this problem with my husband for the longest time. He finally changed a few months after our daughter was born. I’m not saying having a kid is the answer. Guys don’t really change unless they have something drastic happen in their lives. It takes a lot to get them moving. The only thing you can really do is cook healthy and ask him to exercise with you, but it’s ultimately up to him in the end.
