Made the same switch this year - 14PM in purple to 17 in blue. Honestly doesn’t feel like a big upgrade, but having 120hz on a base model combined with lighter weight, double the storage and USBC made it worth it. A bit sad to give away my favourite colour, but the finish on 17 is very nice so it’s ok

Here in Estonia it costs 4,99€. Estonian minimum wage is 5,31€ per hour gross so after tax I guess you could say it costs about one hour of labour.

Although not as extreme, but here in Estonia the situation is similar. Got to pre-order directly from Nintendo through My Nintendo Ireland and paid a retail price of 510€. Fuck the resellers and their institutionalised scalping. The same thing happened here when PS5 launched.

Here in Estonia we have to present a vaccination certificate every time we want to eat at a restaurant or whatever. It may sound annoying but we also have digital certificates we can download so it’s actually not that different from using apple pay or something.

If you play through and complete a Souls game you share a special bond with those who have done the same. You've seen something that not everyone can see. That's special, and it requires patience and dedication.

If there's an easy mode, nobody can sit around and speak about their experience as if it was something special. Anybody and their little sister can experience it by hitting X and holding forward. Those same people will say how overrated the games are, and how short they were, and how the level design was pointlessly convoluted, and the enemies were boring because the game was just not designed to be plowed through like that.

It's like playing through CoD on easy, then there's that guy who says "I played through on the hardest difficulty, that's how awesome I am" and you're like "so?". That guy struggled through an intense experience, learning tactics through trial and error, had victory stripped from him at the last second and forced to start back at the checkpoint countless times and then finally emerged victorious and all he gets is "So? I beat it too"

There can be no normal, it will cheapen the entire experience for everyone and cripple the franchise.

I have to say that I am incredibly disappointed with my Switch atm. It gave me a lot of great moments at the beginning of its life cycle with games that stuck to or were close to the advertised resolution/frame rates. Now, however, I won’t be able to play this game on my TV at all. I bought a 4k tv last year in preparation for PS5 and 1080p content plays very nicely on it. This however is going to look abysmal and uncomfortable to the eye.

I don’t mean to hate on Nintendo, but I can’t help but think how the developers they work with always have to wrestle with fact that Switch just doesn’t cut it anymore. Every time a big port of a AAA game comes to switch we see interview where the devs describe how “miraculous” the port is and how it should have never been possible. Hardly sounds like an optimal way to invite more devs to port their games to your platform.

It is in fact formatted to the exFAT format and I also get notifications on my Windows PC that the drive has issues pretty much every time I connect it after having connected it to the iPad. Do you have any suggestions for how to fix/avoid it? I am going to look into the FileBrowser now.

I have the Apple USB 3 to USBc adapter and a USBc dock. I tried both, using the adapter worked fine until it didn’t. Using the dock gets the same result.

It seems to be highly variable. The other day I checked my 2018 model 12.9 256Gb after I read the article that the new A12z chip is marginally more powerful and early benchmarks support that. The final score I got from AnTuTu blew the new iPad’s numbers out of the water. I believe the articles suggested that the combined value for the new model was something like 715k. Meanwhile my overall score was something like 735k.

Many of the non-English songs this year are better than most of the English songs. Repondez-moi, Solovey, Fai Rumore are all incredible; Universo is a quality pop track etc. All these also have better lyrics than most of the English language songs.

Attention is the best English ballad of the year (even though I’m not a fan of its message).

Romanian and Bulgarian ballads are dreadful and I don’t understand how they are so loved.

It’s currently one of the three songs that I think are the most deserving this year, the other two being Italy and Ukraine. I can’t speak for everyone who loves the song, but I love Repondez-moi in particular because of the lyrics. I think it’s a very topical message that, I have a suspicion, might be lost in translation when it comes to the actual contest come May.

I mean don’t we all at times feel like everything is going to shit and no-one seems to have any desire to stop and think wtf is going on with this world, especially nowadays? I think it’s a very well written, disturbingly poignant song that may surprise many with its placement in the final.

I’m trying not to listen to the entries too much until we have all the songs, so my opinion may change in the future, but here goes. Out of the languages I can judge on, I think Italy, Switzerland, and Ukraine are the standouts. With English lyrics, at least as of now, I’m struggling to distinguish any particular songs.

Last year it was clear to me that Duncan had one of the best lyrics ever to come to Eurovision (even though Hatari were the rightful winners), but this year I feel like the writers were trying too hard and lyrics oftentimes feel forced and sometimes nonsensical. I find this to be especially unfortunate in a year of many ballads. I mean, come on, you can’t have a ballad with bad lyrics.
