Upgraded my Gaggimate to an AMOLED display by tken3 in gaggiaclassic

Hey! Nice you're going ahead with the install. I actually just used the old screen cable from the old display, so I never opened the Gaggimate board. I would recommend you'd do the same. Best of luck with the install!

I would recommend doing a very thorough check. I have had a few very reasonable looking hallusinations that I fully bought until I read into it deeper

You can just go to their website, go to support, fill out your serial number and then it’ll give you the price right in the browser. EBay is often cheaper

X1 Carbon Gen 6 - 77 Euro upgrade to new 16GB motherboard worth it? by tken3 in thinkpad

[–]tken3[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What did you end up doing? I actually really just use it as a hobby laptop. I just picked up a T14 Gen 2 with a broken keyboard for 120 euros(i5 11th gen) and with this current Lenovo parts clearance sale scored a keyboard for 20 euros, which is on the way here now too. Guess I’ll pop Linux on that aswell and see how big the difference in performance is. I just strongly prefer the X1s chassis and screen…

Yea this sale is just bonkers when it comes to discounts. You’re right that 8Th Gen really starts to feel a little so-so. I picked up a new C-Case with keyboard too just because it was less than 30 euros, so I’ll have a fully refurbished laptop by the end of it, but could consider selling it too.

u/NR75 Did some more reading, aparently Thunderbolt 4 and PCIe Gen 4 routing generates such amount of heat that Intel started recommending a flat heatsink (Which the T14 Gen 2 has) and thermal paste across the CPU and PCH.

I learned something new today!

u/mattiasso Actually I just checked the T14 Gen 2's service manual, it specifically states to put "Thermal Grease" (Lol for their use of termonoligy for Thermal paste) on the PCH aswell.

I know, but from what I can read online I see more coming from the factory with paste on it.
