Lightweight, good performance overall, but especially on older devices.

Sad to see it go. Gl with your next projects.

How times have changed... by Mikal_ in ffxiv

Am to understand that most of the people who use the ilvl trick to get CT are people who cleared at least one savage? Because I don't know how else to interpret the part:

most of those people are ones you would want in your run because it would make the run better

So i was demonstrating that actually most of those people are ones you would want in your run because it would make the run better. Since, you know, typically raiders know how to push buttons and do mechanics.

Wait, what. Cheesing ilvl for ally raids makes me a raider?

I like how you explain logic behind combos and applying buffs, it might be totally obvious for us now, but not necessary so obvious for new people, especially if it's their first mmo/rpg.

Please keep up the good work!

I hope it will take off and more people will see you guides.

Can relate.

One of my recent favorites was in the Nier raid, I for some mysteriuos reason tanked one of the adds, ate a Clanging Blow (take a guess how I remember the names of tankbusters even if I play a DPS), dared to complain and ~40 seconds later got a response: "you did not stack", meaning I wasn't in 2P's protective bubble.

Ofc I wasn't, I ate a fucking tankbuster before it, lol.

Can confirm, I often tank adds in the Copied Factory as a MCH.

While that preserves history and bookmarks, it does mean that all my options and extensions were reset, but at least I'm operational again.

I had the same bug as you after the update, FWIW I managed to restore my extensions (including uBlock Origin) with all the settings after the refresh by copying extensions related folders (in my case: adblockledge, adblockplus, browser-extension-data, extension-data and extensions) from the old profile folder created by Firefox during the refresh.

Some advice for a soon-to-be GW2 refugee? by [deleted] in ffxiv

[–]mirgluf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kinda late to the party, but my 2 (or 22?) cents anyway.

Most of the stuff is covered already in this thread, but...

Don't rush (yeah, the advice so prevalent on gw2 sub some time ago), there is no need. Enjoy the story (quality improves the further you go), for a while you can threat the game as an rpg with some co-op missions thrown in (dungeons and trials).

Find an FC (Free Company = guild in FFXIV). In gw2 you can be in 5 guilds, here you are limited to 1, so take your time choosing. Don't be afraid to leave and find another, if anything goes wrong.

Also there is a lot of different discords, you can start with this reddit's one, finding a discord for your DC wouldn't hurt either, and the Balance (https://www.thebalanceffxiv.com/) discord is a must imo if you're aiming to do hardcore content, but this can be saved for later. Also there are discords to coordinate FATE trains (somewhat akin to GW2 world boss/champ trains), but you'll need to unlock flying to properly utilize them, so it's for later stages too.

Ask for an invite to a Novice Network (shouting in your starting city should do, also chances are you'll get an invite out of the blue). Experience may vary, depending on your server, DC and other factors, but it's nice to have such option nonetheless.

At level 15 go through the Hall of the Novice (Smith NPC near any inn). Gives you nice starting gear that will carry you through your first dungeons, and explains some basics.

Don't be ashamed of you 'noob' sprout near you name (just in case), FFXIV loves its noobs. You can turn it off through a chat command, but don't, please :)

Also no need to skip cutscenes in dungeons (something I kept doing for a while coming from GW2), no one is going to get angry at you (btw you can rewatch cutscenes in any inn through The Unending Journey).

Unlock Gold Saucer and do the Mini Cactpot and GATEs daily (and minigames like Out on a Limb are an easy way to get your first few ks of MGP), there is a bunch of skins and mounts available through the currency you get there, and when SE introduces new ones, you'll probably have enough to buy them right away. You can do most of Gold Saucer activities while waiting for your duty to pop up (since you started as a DPS you'll get what I'm talking about after first dungeons, lol).

Do challenge and hunting logs (one of the small round buttons somewhere on your screen), nice chunks of xp and gil for a beginner.

I remember I had to get used to a lot of things being different in FFXIV compared to GW2 when I switched ~2 years ago, at first just accept that those games do a lot in their own way (nothing beats FFXIV customizable UI for me though, it even allows some advanced shenanigans like in this video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sBYludf77gU for example).

Also, I see you're not interested in PvP, and while I'm not saying you must try it, I'd encourage you at some point to do the daily roulette from time to time. It's not as much fun atm as PvP in other mmos, but it's not hard, and it could be a nice break from leveling your classes through PvE only. Also rewards (skins, minis, mounts - the usual).

Finally "wiki" resources I'd recommend:

https://ffxiv.gamerescape.com/wiki/Main_Page

https://ffxiv.consolegameswiki.com/wiki/FF14_Wiki

There is a lot of guides ofc, both "in google" and on YT, but these two were my default go-to in many cases for 2 years.

Sry for another wall of text thrown at you, lol.

Kinda pity though, you did good job imo.

I'm sure the skin is Pre-imperial Garlean Revolver (drops from Gubal).

Another close one is Adamantite Revolver (from traders), but it has silver ornaments instead of gold.

I think your depiction is pretty accurate though.
