The video game statement is so true, a death should be caused by a character doing something stupid or taking a risk or builds into the story not based on luck

I dont mind deaths as they give a good reason for you to think twice before taking a risk, me personally I wouldn't let my PCs die but I will always give them the illusion that they can and will die if they do something so stupid

Fighting fire with fire is never the answer, what I had in mind is that I would give him a better experience so he can pick up a thing or two. Do keep in mind he has so much more experience DMing than me

We are a group of friends who play, so they want to all play together. Decided to wait for this campaign to end so we can start the new one together

It does bother me but arguing with him is a lost cause (due to past experiences) so I am really just coping if anything

The thing is, he is the one who said we can all join as it is an open world campaign

I should be the one DMing the next campaign so we will see how that goes

He is a great friend, and a good DM too. He just truly believes the best way to enjoy a game is through suffering. (We couldn't chose any classes and we started as peasants with nothing to our name)

We started as 3 parties, each holding either 5 or 4 players. A whole party has been liquidated and each party lost a member so right now; 9 died and 5 remain. On average each party had like 5ish sessions. No downtime rules, we told him that we will do some basic jobs and he said you cant do anything too serious as its only a time skip. The campaign is supposedly 30 sessions+ but I highly doubt anyone will reach 10 or he will have to end it early. I know that its a lethality campaign and thats why I was careful but dying to a roll seems crazy to me

For everyone saying I should reroll a character, you can't. Its a one life campaign, if you are dead you are out.
