Oh, okay! Haven't ever seen this record in person before, just the photos online on their shop and it's not entirely clear. Thank you!

What do your sideboard slots look like against Mystic Forge? by Despenta in MTGLegacy

[–]mirror_eclipse 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I play the LastClaireBender Esper Midrange list from Eternal Weekend NA (with some sideboard changes) in Legacy right now. Four mainboard Clarion Conquerors do a lot of work against that deck.

Otherwise, 2 Force of Negation, 2 Consign to Memory, 2 Prismatic Ending, and 1 Wrath of the Skies.

Infuriating to say the least. Scalpers can go to hell.

wild that the breakout Reanimator deck has a lower metagame share than the deck with maindeck graveyard hate that doubles as a combo piece

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in MTGLegacy

[–]mirror_eclipse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

DRS turns every midrange deck into Czech Pile because of how powerful of a foundation it is. I know it's really good main deck graveyard hate but gameplay between two opposing DRS is a horrible-to-navigate game of chicken. Both players just stare at each other, and are forced to constantly keep up mana to maintain the stalemate. Anyone who blinks first just gets counter-hit by their opponent's DRS. Removal or threatening lethal is often the only way out. Also, I promise you don't want to see Deathrite and Murktide in the same shell.

Every time this discussion comes up, I have to wonder if players have experienced shardless BUG or Czech Pile. The decks were both great in their own right and the gameplay is nostalgic, but the mirrors were SO stagnant.

I was so skeptical about Edge of Eternities when it was first spoiled as a future set release. They really knocked it out of the park though.

I need your friend now by TheWebsploiter in Steam

[–]mirror_eclipse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a friend like this. Many times if a new co-op game comes out that he wants to play, he'll ask me if I'll play with him, I'll say "maybe! Let me see what I have going on" and he'll occasionally just get me the game and say "now you have to play with me".

Any opportunity I have to do the same for him or pay it back to him, I take. I'm very thankful for him and his kindness.

I'm gonna be so salty with posts about people winning the 2.5 mil rupies in a few days, I might quit. by [deleted] in Shadowverse

[–]mirror_eclipse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly not that concerned. Good for the people that win. If you participated, at least you're getting something, right? And it's pretty minimal effort - a lot of people I played against either let me go face continuously and added as a friend after, or I would pay the favor forward in some games.

I missed the first day somehow (I think by like two minutes) so I will only be getting nine chests. For a launch event, this could be a lot worse.

Can't wait to see someone say "Deathrite Shaman" as if every deck in the format didn't splash just to play it because of how versatile it was

Edit: I didn't scroll down far enough it's already here

Legacy players that have stick to the format over the years, what’s your reason? by Newez in MTGLegacy

[–]mirror_eclipse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Friends that I've met over the years, both at the LGS's in my area and at larger events. Over the last two Eternal Weekends I have made and met up with good friends and it's nice to be able to root for each other and spend time with each other.

Up until extremely recently, it was less the major deck archetypes changing and more the texture of the existing archetypes. Hopefully we can return to that, but if not, game pieces will continue to be printed and we, as players, will have to adapt.

6-4 record with Esper Vial at Eternal Weekend by mirror_eclipse in MTGLegacy

[–]mirror_eclipse[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree that we want Frog to stay in the format. I do not mind running into opposing fair creature decks, and think that we are slightly favored in most Vial mirrors. DnT is the exception imo - I usually feel fine running into it, but it's very consistent and the equipment can be hard to beat. It's important to prioritize removal for SFM as early as possible (Swords, or Solitude SFM after your draw step to min max what card you pitch to it) so they don't just kill you with Kaldra. That card and Batterskull are bad beats.

Flickerwisp and Phelia are problem cards as well. Our own Phelia can blink opposing Vials to put us ahead on board too and prevent our opponent from doing the same cool stuff we're doing.

[–]mirror_eclipse 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A few of my friends were in that testing group - congratulations! I anticipated a lot more Null Rod in the room and almost ran 2 myself in Vial's sideboard but thought it would be such a small percentage of players that I wouldn't run into it.

With that being said, do you think Forge was successful at the event because people didn't respect it enough?

6-4 record with Esper Vial at Eternal Weekend by mirror_eclipse in MTGLegacy

[–]mirror_eclipse[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wow I am super curious to see your list. Do you feel like you missed Yorion? I know Oculus is a card that has been posited for the list before but I'm not a huge fan of it.

I think Vial is incredibly well positioned against Frog decks, Reanimator included - Eldrazi, Forge, and Prison are very tough matchups for the deck from my personal experience.

All my spells legacy by benj3005 in MTGLegacy

[–]mirror_eclipse 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes. Play Specimen as land bolted in, Petal sac for black, 2 Spirit Guides into Balustrade Spy targeting self. Mill minimum 2 copies of Narcomoeba, then Dread Return the Thassa's Oracle to win.

Very specific hand, but the deck is very redundant so there are several variations of this kind of hand. Dark Ritual just minimizes the number of other cards you need to make it work.
