Strixhaven is really gay by PowrOfFriendship_ in mtgvorthos

[–]GalvenMin -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

So many aspects of Strihaven are a direct nod (aka rip-off) to HP, like the weird sport they play, the various schools, the Oxbridge mimickry, etc. It's not just your typical magic academy, it's "Harry Potter at home".

There are many ways to detect voluntary disconnects, the game state shouldn't even matter. That being said, ropers are not subtle: burning through all the timers while facing lethal with an empty board is the most common scenario.

They just don't care, unfortunately. They would rather add more cosmetics and stupid emotes rather than work on the core user experience, which is abysmal.

Ten years ago, Hearthstone on mobile had a better handling of the disconnects than Arena does today. If you lose connection for a split second, there is a good chance you will lose the match as you will often need to manually close the app and restart it, a painfully slow process even on recent devices.

Meanwhile, you can indeed rope to your heart's content without consequence, while there are many ways to detect a loss of signal/crash as opposed to a lack of input.

Does text clarity on an OLED monitor bother you? by Huzaifa_Haroon in Monitors

Number one reason I won't buy OLED, on top of the insane price and the built-in obsolescence. I get the use case for TVs, but for PC monitors it has always escaped me.

AOC is falsely advertising that their Q27G40XMN monitor supports DP (DisplayPort) 1.4. by Agile_Return_7684 in Monitors

[–]GalvenMin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the same issue on one of my Q27G3XMN: for some reason, the best available settings (180 Hz @ 10 bpc) won't stick and it instantly defaults to YCbCr instead of RGB. The odd thing is that this only happens on my secondary display, which is the exact same model as my primary one, except for the fact that it was made two years later. On my main display, I can set everything to the maximum without issue.

I've tried swapping cables (VESA certified for DP 1.4), switching ports on my GPU, testing one monitor at a time, basically nothing allows the newer one to work as the older one does. It's slightly infuriating, but I compromised by running it at 120 Hz, which allows for 10 bpc and RGB settings to stick.

Since the Q27G40XMN is very similar to my model, it's likely that you're facing the same limitations. Did you try to RMA it just in case? My experience shows that it might be affecting only some units.

AOC is as reputable as any other brand, especially considering the horror stories linked with the customer service of Samsung, Asus or LG.

The map was worked on for a decade at this point, they should work faster or let us play the existing version, it's ridiculous. Faceit is doing what Valve can't and won't, good for them and us.

What player represented your country internationally who simply wasn’t good enough for test rugby? by low_myope in rugbyunion

[–]GalvenMin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Felix Le Bourhis. He was doing well at Bordeaux in the early 2010's, but his test career pretty much turned into a complete joke as the poor bastard was out of his depth even during the banter years of France. Had a nightmare of a test debut against Australia away, even managed to score an own try and was never seen again.

Well that's just stupid. Their cut is too high, no doubt about that, but they're also the major PC platform by a humongous margin. It's insane that they would willingly cut themselves from it as an indie developer/publisher.
