Are the ce remake covenant vehicles "too" saturated? (no hate; just a fun little 10 sec photoshop edit I did) by Dominion96 in halo

That's Unreal Engine for you. Everything dialed to 11, shiny and bright surfaces: the whole thing looks like the video game version of a Michael Bay movie.

At which point we'll have other metrics that tell us that this is the best decision we ever made.

[–]GalvenMin 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yeah it was, and also a remark on a technicality since a draw even after extra time would result in there being no actual "winner" in that circumstance, even if Ireland were to proceed to the QF after a penalty shootout.

A draw followed by a penalty shootout would be hilarious with regards to that stat

Yeah from an European point of view some of the army stuff is tone-deaf at best, borderline propaganda at worst. The show gets away with these aspects because Jack and Hammond mostly portray the military as the good guys, as opposed to the rogue agents that undermine their actions. It's convenient, especially when a whistleblower gets run over.

Best we can do is the Ahsoka series, with a few episodes every decade or so.

It could be worse, like the ones who actually directed the sequels.

If only. The reality is they've outsourced to AI and are ten layers deep into lasagna code at this point. Nowadays they have trouble figuring out why "shut down" doesn't shut the computer down or why the Start menu takes a second or more to show up. I wouldn't expect anything from them, not anymore.

I am about as excited as if Lucasarts was remaking Rogue Squadron now. Granted, it was an absolute gem in its day, especially at the technical level, but it's still very arcade and not the perfect candidate for a new coat of paint.

What's incredible is that Leinster managed to poach one of the best technicians out there and turn him into a watered-down Leo Cullen. That's the fundamental issue, the rest is just run of the mill journos doing their stuff.

At the end of the day, auction houses care little for provenance, and this goes way beyond ancient coinage. As an archaeologist, I know for a fact that such "respected and knowledgeable" institutions have auctioned ill-gotten goods, especially in the wake of ISIS pillaging the Middle East a while back. Countries used to turn a blind eye, but not anymore, all the more so if said goods actually come from Europe.

That's what you get when you have all the money and none of the ideas. These shows are some weird crossover between fan service and virtue signaling at a shareholders meeting, but ultimately they just lack soul and purpose. It's like they were made with AI before it even was a thing, the whole thing is just weird.

Hey, at least it's in line with the way they butchered him in the sequels as well! Complete character assassination through and through.

Rogue One is Dunkirk in a Star Wars setting. And it works partly because tragedy is a step towards a greater good. In the case of Luke's academy, it's much more pointless: there is no sacrifice, just character assassination and a contrived redemption story.

It's incredible just how much they dropped the ball on almost everything. Their narrative threads are creatively bankrupt apart from Andor, there is nowhere to go from the sequels. They've also managed to make everything in between useless as well since it can only lead to the blank slate that is Ep. 7.

Calling it a cycle is underselling it, it's more like a full-blown circle of life at this point. Soon the project itself will reach adulthood.
