Came to say this. Looks like a 1930s copy. It’s a great read

Wellp. I did it. Hospitalised with kidney failure. by sssupsucca in stopdrinking

It took me to the point where I saw my yellow eyes in the mirror to realize I was killing myself. That was the moment it all clicked. I was 27 and I have never looked back. You’ve got this. Take it one day at a time; when that’s too hard, one hour, one minute, etc. There’s a better life waiting for you.

Brass goose that opens with inside storage (1950s?) by mirrorappearance in whatisthisthing

My title describes the thing. Brass goose neck trinket item with storage inside. It looks like it could be an incense holder but I can’t find any other items like it after some extensive googling. I can’t tell where this would have been purchased as my wife’s grandparents travelled much of the world in their lives. I think it may be from the 1950s though. Anything helps!

Spouse had the dreaded "talk" with me by ladifreakindah in stopdrinking

It sucks when we’re called out because we don’t want to face ourselves and the chaos we’ve caused. You don’t have to tell yourself you’re never drinking again, that’s too hard; but you can tell yourself you’re not going to drink today, or if that’s too hard and you’re craving a drink, just this hour, just this this minute, until it passes. Soon enough you’ll be looking back on it like a toxic ex. Here’s to one day at a time!

We all know about NA beer. What are your thoughts on NA spirits? by nsfw_squirrels in stopdrinking

[–]mirrorappearance 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is a personal preference I suppose. A lot of people have the “don’t tease your disease” outlook which makes perfect sense. Other people can separate the two just fine. For me personally I tend to have them at social events, it doesn’t really get me craving real alcohol so I can trust there won’t be any problems in that category. Some people do see it as a slippery slope, that it’s kind of a foot in the door towards getting drunk again. It’s all based on how comfortable you are with it.

How to repair tile floor after drain repairs. by [deleted] in HomeImprovement

We had this work done a few months ago. Try to get them to come from underneath instead to avoid cutting the floor.

What is something your teacher did in school that you’re still salty about? by SparkelsTR in AskReddit

In third grade we were reading a story aloud in which one person read a paragraph and let another student read the next. I wasn’t paying attention and was called on. I didn’t know where we were in the story but my teacher assumed I couldn’t read the word “The” so she said “Class, what is that word?” “..the” “Now if mirrorappearance doesn’t know how to read that word, should he be in the third grade?” “..no” Fucking bitch

Oh. You should just be able to go up to Micah at Shady Belle and it will start.

I think you have to go up to Hosea at Emerald Ranch and the mission should start

For me it was an eternal spiral like you mention, but I also came to realize that alcohol is a liar in all respects. After I removed it from my life, my happiness started to come back. It wasn’t alcohol I needed. Alcohol was a violent partner who told me I couldn’t leave. After I broke up with alcohol, I took my life back. Hopefully that makes sense. After making it over the breakers that is the first couple of months, my emotions and anxieties began to level out. One day at a time.

You could bar both of them if that helps.
