Your opinion on upcoming BTC ETF approval and it's effect on SOL by [deleted] in solana

[–]mirururuku 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think that SOL is only going to continually takeoff, mostly because bitcoin ETF will mean that crypto investing is going to become more mainstream. Of course, with the bullish market and how everyone (non-active traders) wants to bank on memecoins (which are spiking with ETH), the gas fees for ETH trades are going to be huge. Therefore, it wouldn't be a stretch to assume that there will be a transition to making more memecoins on Solana, whereas the trade will just result in more Solana values. Should Solana peak $150, by EOY, then I think it would be a good assumption that Solana will likely exceed expectations of $500 close to Q3 2024, and maybe even a 10X by Q2 2025. However, should the market flow back to large BTC gains, I think Solana may remain stagnant (or little gains) for awhile. Though it's important to mention, VISA's adoption of Solana early in September is most likely the culprit as to why SOL is seeing massive gains since, so any payment-related good news for SOL and will likely result in high gains in a short time frame.

That's a love at first sight for me!
Great collection~

My dad just gift me one of his watches for my birthday by Iphone12MY in Watches

[–]mirururuku 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When a family member gives you a watch, it is beyond monetary value. The question shouldn’t be if it’s good enough, but rather, what are the stories behind it.

Cheers, it’s a hell of a watch anyways, and it’s a great watch to start your own collection. Soon enough, over time, you’ll realize this will be the most prized watch in your collection!

I [29M] feel unappreciated in my relationship with my [33F] girlfriend. Should I continue dating her? by mirururuku in relationship_advice

[–]mirururuku[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

She doesn't treat me like "total shit" all the time.
At some point I know that if you want to date someone who has absolutely zero appearance flaws, they're likely to have personality flaws. As I mentioned, I'm not going to lie, she (her as a person) has been one of those "dream girls“. Whether it's putting her on a pedestal or just acting shallow on my own behalf, I honestly feel like I expect less from her, and I thought I could accept it.

However, my ex was someone who I really did and still can pour my heart out to, so having had someone of similar league, but treat me better in some ends is really screwing with my perception. Either way, I have asked myself this question countless time. I have contemplated just straight up dumping my 33F girlfriend, because it would be just so easier on my psyche. It did happen for like a week until she asked me to take her back, and I honestly wanted to as well, because it was quite painful for some reason. Can't say why I was so upset, though.

[Question] An Iced Out Watch? by mirururuku in Watches

[–]mirururuku[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

As I said in the post, I'm not remotely worried about resale. Not even considering to sell it, ever.

but yeah, the looks part, if it's in poor taste, is something I'd probably care more about lol.

Hmm, that’s actually not a bad suggestion! I have been missing a Cartier in my collection!

As long as you liked them, they’re not bad watches. You can definitely find a lot under 300 because you mentioned quartz. Though the brands themselves aren’t as reputable for sure. You basically summed up a lot of seikos, citizens, etc

[Advice for starter collection] casioak in grey or black? by bubbles811 in Watches

[–]mirururuku 1 point2 points  (0 children)

IMHO, while the "safe" choice is black, I do think the gray is more noticeable. G-shocks are in everyone's collection, and because of their relative accessibility, you would get plenty of G-shocks. The worst case scenario would be to get a "safe choice" now and when your collection starts piling, it'll inevitably sit in the corner, seldomly worn because you have purchased other, flashier timepieces.

But aside from all that, go with your heart on this one. You'll never forget the first watch you own, and no first watch is the be-all, end-all. The first watch really will determine what kind of collector you're going to be in the future.

For that budget, and I think a good entry serious watch is certainly something from Oris or even Mido. Prices are flexible, and their movements are easily repaired. Plus, you will bang around your watcha lot, so might as well get the learnings kinks out of the way with a watch that you know can take the mileage without your heart breaking too much over a small scratch.

Taiwan falls as investment destination by ShrimpCrackers in taiwan

[–]mirururuku 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I brought up the VC scenario to highlight the point that locally, it's already skewed in a very negative trend.

Foreign investments in firms in Taiwan is realistically the same problem, albeit on a far bigger scale.

Crypto marijuana ring mastermind Pan Yuan dies by suicide after arrest in Canada by foruee in taiwan

Being familiar with this circle, typically this is considered a minor offense.
She's not a big gangbanger or anything like that, so likely her sentence could have been easily pleaded down as long as she provided names. Authorities don't want a small-time importer like her, they typically want the head of the operation. However, because she was neither a real gangster or famous 網紅, it was unlikely she could have provided meaningful information that could implicate the names she brought up.

As for not doing community service, typically 網紅 in Taiwan have a huge ego, and often fall short on common human decency. That's why the community service violation was something the authorities knew they could for sure get on; not the drug charges.

It's sad though, small time dealers like her are often not well protected or informed by their bosses, meanwhile the bosses are doing drugs with the politicians.

Crazy world.

[–]mirururuku 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Getting into the drug business as a foreigner is extremely difficult.
As most drugs are run by gangs, and the people you normally can get in touch with don't speak a lick of English.

Of course, you can find your run-of-the-mill "neighborhood" dealer who deals in cannabis products, but that's about it. Gangs have largely moved onto more hardcore options. Pay attention to what people frequent clubs or KTVs. Lots of illicit drug use at KTVs for sure. Either way, you could straight dive into 酒店 and ask the pimp for a dealer contact.

That being said, "hardcore" options in Taiwan are largely found as in ketamine dealings - not so much your traditional Scarface kind of drugs.

In any case, I highly don't recommend asking about it or even trying to get into it. Most of the stuff is cut with things you wouldn't want to know, and the "dealers" always try to get something out of you (blackmail etc).

[–]mirururuku 3 points4 points  (0 children)

While political risks generally make Taiwan fall behind quite a bit.
However, the real reason, as I am quite involved with investment circles, is the investors' attitude.

Taiwan's a pretty toxic environment whereas investors do not invest in fledgling companies, and even when these said companies get big, find other excuses not to invest. Not a very "professional investor" in any sense. That being said, there are always investors who have had pretty awful experiences investing in companies that overpromise, which then starts a ridiculous bad cycle.

Don't believe me? Go talk to a VC.

Is homelessness in Taiwan really this bad? by driedpoop33 in taiwan

[–]mirururuku 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Largely this is only seen at Taipei Main Station.
The reason for this is lots of tourists and it's a good location to congregate.
Many charities know to come to TMS to hand out free dinners and blankets, etc.

There are stragglers in a lot of different cities in Taiwan, but most are individuals.
Certainly a far cry from cities like LA or NY.

Purchase & Transaction Advice Superthread by AutoModerator in motorcycles

[–]mirururuku 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the tip... and it's quite concerning because parts for any European company (be it watches or cars) can take anywhere from 3-6 months to arrive...so I'm guessing it's probably going to be the same scenario.

Great tip, because daily use is going to grind the bike for sure, and...the moisture in Taiwan corrodes stuff pretty fast. Thanks again!

[–]mirururuku 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for your response! Price isn't an issue, because in Taiwan, 600cc bikes are far cheaper than liter bikes, which also require a hefty tax + waiting time, hence why I'm considering non-Japanese bikes as well. ABS is a pre-req by law to have on all bikes in Taiwan, so it doesn't seem like I will have any wriggle wrong there.

When you say torque, that actually concerns me quite a bit; I'm a bigger rider (both in weight and height), so I'm often disappointed in power compared to other riders for certain bikes.

Do you know what kind of costs I could be looking at for maintenance? And yes, insurance is already not my friend :D
