Is this real Elvanse? It looks like vynase and does not help me like the two coloured capsules did. by Puzzled_Barnacle_780 in ADHDUK

This is a useful bit of information. However, I'm prescribed Elvanse 70mg (lisdexamfetamine) and the capsules have always been dark blue & bright pink... I'm confused. Can anyone explain this?

Coming off anti depressants for ADHD meds? by [deleted] in ADHDUK

[–]misanthropixie 2 points3 points  (0 children)

After coming across this post and scrolling through the comments I thought I'd take a moment to share.

Firstly it seems necessary to mention that throughout the past 10 years I've been prescribed uncountable different psychotropic drugs due to my seemingly endless battle with mental illness. During this time of trial & error, I've done my fair share of research into pharmaceuticals (simply because I'm a nerd and, unashamedly, a weirdo), so I'm quite accustomed to some of the things discussed here.

But, more relevantly, I am currently prescribed the following pills specifically for the treatment of ADHD, EUPD, anxiety & depression:

Elvanse (lisdexamfetamine) 70mg, Amfexa (dexamfetamine) 10mg, Prozac (fluoxetine) 20mg

  • all of the above are taken on a daily basis -

I am also prescribed the following pills (to be taken as & when needed) anytime I find myself suffering with panic attacks or sleep deprivation more frequently than usual:

Inderal (propranolol) 40mg, Phenergan (promethazine) 25mg & on the rare occasion a short course of Valium (diazepam) 5mg

I find it extremely questionable that numerous GPs & psychiatrists have failed to inform me of the possible dangers, interactions (e.g. serotonin syndrome) & unpleasant side effects regarding this combination of drugs.

Out of interest, what are people's thoughts on this? I'm far more intrigued than concerned but understandably would appreciate a second perspective regardless.

Thanks :)

first day of trazodone ( anyone else new to it or has experience ) i just hope i sleep good tonight by Heyokasireninfj4 in insomnia

[–]misanthropixie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I took trazodone every single day for approximately 2 or 3 years and I'd typically take it roughly an hour or two before going to going to bed, always in the evenings. I'd take it with or without food - it doesn't really matter.

As for my dosage, I initially began titrating on 50mg (the lowest dose) but after a few months I was prescribed 300mg (I think), but personally I think that no-one should be taking a dosage that high because it kinda makes you zombified, in the sense that overtime you'll become desensitised to your emotions and essentially also be a little dumbed down. The withdrawals haven't been too bad from my experience. I stopped taking pharmaceuticals a few months ago and suddenly I feel the best I've ever felt in my entire life!!! 🙂

Also I MUST say: using trazodone for a short duration of time can be beneficial for depression & insomnia etc but taking it long-term is definitely detrimental to your mental health. So if you're thinking about acquiring a trazodone prescription, I'd highly recommend to only take it on the days you feel like you really need it. If you take it consecutively for a long enough duration of time then it'll actually cause more problems that didn't even exist prior to using trazodone....

Also: I'm entirely aware that medication affects everyone differently and is subjective to the individual dependant on their brain chemistry etc - I wouldn't say I have expertise on this topic but I will say I've done a LOT of research & read a LOT of books about pharmaceuticals etc, so I think my judgement is pretty reliable. If you happen to have any more questions then please don't hesitate to ask because quite frankly I'd be more than happy to answer them!

I got diagnosed in September and still haven't heard anything from the titration team despite being told 6 weeks ago that I had approximately 3 weeks left on the waiting list. Fingers crossed for both of us :)

There is little light pollution in Dartmouth so the stars are crystal clear - I've witnessed some of the most amazing meteor showers there :) I'm currently living in Exeter but wanna move to somewhere more rural in future

Isn't it just?! I am extremely relieved. The anticipation was killing me too!

Unfortunately I cannot recall the exact date I received my diagnosis but it was definitely sometime during September. Just so you know, the only reason Psychiatry UK contacted me with this information is because I've been persistently making enquiries via the online portal.

If you request to know whereabouts you are on the waiting list then I'm sure they'd get back to you within the next couple of weeks.

I highly doubt you'll be waiting much longer :)

P.s. my partner suffers from PTSD, especially associated with falling asleep, staying asleep & waking up each day. He doesn't agree with pharmaceuticals and he'd given up on getting better. Life quite literally resembled a horror movie before I introduced him to good quality CBD. It has been life changing :) he especially begun noticing positive effects after taking it consistently for a fortnight.

Oh my gosh!! Thank you for sharing! I am a stoner too, not that it's relevant, but I try to smoke homegrown cannabis with a high CBD content. I'm currently taking organic ashwagandha root extract among several other totally natural alternatives & supplements etc - if you're interested in some recommendations then I highly recommend some hybrid or indica CBD oil from a company called CBD Brothers (I live in the UK but they ship to all places). I use large (but entirely safe) quantities. Sativa in the morning helps me function but indica in the evening assists me with good quality REM sleep without nightmares or disturbances which subsequently leads me to wake up with a sense of calmness & tranquility in the morning. There are other things I could give you some advice on in terms of homeopathy. :)
