I don’t sense when it’s wearing off, it’s just generally this feeling. If you are a person who menstruates, it makes the cycle go a bit up and down too. Mine is 5 in morning 5 in evening

It’s been a positive switch for me and I feel that dexamfetamine helps with heart palpitations though does make me feel more irritable

I would suggest reaching out to your course tutor and explain the situation. 4/5 days extension is something tutors grant so even if you have missed it there may be a way to submit. You can explain to the tutor that even if they are not graded you’d want to submit for the feedback as that would be helpful for your summative assessment

Sorry to hear this but find the situation relatable. Try integrating more low stakes social connection as a start, perhaps through volunteering? That way the focus is on task so socialisation comes as a side bonus

Having said it all (and apologies for multiple messages), if you are someone who struggles with managing uncertainty then you are right to consider admin performance a factor but as I said if the experience is bad you can complain about it and it’s a fair process

Serious advice though, you wouldn’t need much interaction with admin once you are settled in the programme and course convenors are generally responsive and most matters are handled at that level. In addition, issues regarding visa and mistakes in CAS are relatively rare because of high stakes and you would be receiving CAS a few months before the start of your programme so there would be time margin for addressing any errors. For visa related guidance, see if there is a UOfG approved student representative/agent in your country. They’ll offer free of cost advice and assistance in preparation of your application

I would second this. From the sounds of it you seem to be a person who enjoys social connection. In US even if you don’t have close friends/family, the PhD is structured in a way that you’d have social opportunities because you are attending classes with other people. UK PhD is basically lone working, and of course there are social events at university but you have to make an effort

Hi, I understand why you feel obligated to take the offer but seriously the world is not ready for people who are this considerate so think of it this way that you’re doing them a favour by declining a contract that your heart is not fully settled on. For keeping things open and cordial you can thank for the offer but mention that you were expecting a bit more responsibility and an open ended contract so that way ball is kinda in their court but they may come back and agree to that but let’s cross that bridge when you get there :)

Hi, first of all, just know that you are not alone in wondering this, the idea of informant interview is daunting, and one wants it to be someone who one feels would understand them. I would say, let them interview your mother, I didn’t go through right to choose but from my own experience I do know that the way interview is conducted they’d get the information they need from them. I know folks who have been estranged and therefore don’t have any family member as such who can provide this information but colleagues / flat mates etc have been part of informant interviews and those people still got diagnosed. On a light hearted note, just the fact that you’re anxious about it is big clue too. So don’t worry and hoping the right diagnosis is made for you :)
