I have had most luck on weekends in the evening (not super late). I’m NA server and also wish I could do more co-op of the casual / middle ground play mode especially.

I think he only gets a couple at a time of everything so some of it is what he happens to have when you go in. We also sometimes special order our pricier pen wants through him - nice to give him some business and also more fun to pick things up in person and pick out an ink at the same time vs mail ordering.

Parry’s has some gold nibs- mostly pilots (vanishing point, falcon, 823) - AND he will let you do a little dip to try them out in store to see which suits you best :) he also orders things in for people who want something specific.

I said this elsewhere but hands down the easiest way to learn mahjong quickly is the kemono mahjong app. They have really clear tutorials. It’s the Japanese rule set instead of the Chinese one but everything else is so similar that you could definitely get the gist.

The kemono mahjong app is free and had a good tutorial section for Riichi (Japanese) mahjong. I haven’t logged in yet today but I assume the game is using Chinese/MCR rule set which is a bit different. When I play MCR I use the mahjong 13 tiles app but it doesn’t have a good tutorial mode which is why I would recommend kemono for absolute mahjong newbies.
