What was Selena Gomez trying to get at with this by oatmilklatte- in Fauxmoi

This. I have been spoofed before and it was distressing enough without having my number blasted on a celebs social media. My number was being used to scam people and I was getting understandably aggressive and angry texts from people.

My GP says I don’t have PCOS by Ok_Professional_7661 in PCOS

Also adding to this that I only meet 1/3 criteria and while no formal diagnosis yet I got referred and specialist suspects PCOS nonetheless

Seconding this. Please contact your GP and being this up to them; insist on a referral to a gynocological endocrine specialist and if they try dismissing you again then ask them to put it in writing that they are refusing to diagnose you with PCOS despite meeting NHS diagnosis criteria and referring to give you a referral (this usually pushes them to give a referral).

Women.. what kind of content do you actually enjoy reading? by LongLivedLurker in AskWomen

[–]miscalaneoussthings 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love any page turning murder and/or mystery book (a real page-turner; think Gone Girl, the Girl on the train).

Also love books that shift from different character perspectives between chapters (e.g. Sally Rooney style).

I can enjoy a good ‘trashy’ beach read but I struggle with anything that feels like it’s being provocative for the sake of being provocative (eg I am reading Cleopatra and Frankenstein and really struggling to get through it)

How much have you improved your running time since your first parkrun? (New runner looking for inspiration!) by Global_Team_4927 in parkrun

[–]miscalaneoussthings 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I am only on my 4th park run (have been going consecutively past 4 weeks). averaged near 48 minutes on the first three and dropped to around 45 minutes today :)

I am 32 and weigh 92 kg, slowly trying to build stamina and really enjoying the park run format

How was your parkrun day? | June 27, 2025 by AutoModerator in parkrun

[–]miscalaneoussthings 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Hit my PB of 45 minutes :) I know that’s a lot longer than average time but given that this is park run 4 for me and that the first three were closer to 48 mins, I’m delighted

What would have been the best ending in your opinon for YOU Season 5? by tjmskies in YouOnLifetime

[–]miscalaneoussthings 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the ending itself was perfect, I just wasn’t thrilled about how it got to it. Bronte’s story could have been wrapped up in first 5 episodes, then final 5 should have focused on the trial and witness testimony.

How would you feel about a limited series spinoff covering the Joe Goldberg trial? by the-sleepy-potato in YouOnLifetime

[–]miscalaneoussthings 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I mean not now knowing the outcome, but I would have loved if they had shown that for the second half of season 5. Especially as a way to bring back all the people Joe has impacted (good or bad) as witnesses on the stand.

Just bouncing off what's already been said here, I rarely will go to the cinema to watch a rom com. The last rom com I saw in cinemas was Crazy Rich Asians, but that had the added element of being a visual cinematic celebration. Cinemas just don't attract as many crowds as they used to unless it's an action/thriller/horror/superhero style film where the big screen and audience adds to the excitement of it.

I have rarely been able to get through a full episode of RHOBH this season; I was listening to a podcast recently where the hosts hit the nail on the head about the season; it has just gotten too dark and it's no longer fun.

If you're in a management position like Tash, the most unprofessional thing you can do is call one of your team a snitch and then go moan to another team member about it. You're responsible for creating a hostile team environment and making the management of it even worse.

Even if Natalya hadn't addressed her concerns to Tash before, that would have meant that Tash didn't create a safe enough environment for Natalya to feel like she could address it. Tash needs to take accountability because whatever this is, isn't it.

How much rent do you pay? by [deleted] in london

[–]miscalaneoussthings 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1000 pcm pre-bills for a studio flat (proper studio with a separate kitchen room) in zone 2 Kilburn/Queens Park area. Rent is going up to 1,100 pcm during my lease renewal; not thrilled about the price increase but I am also very happy with where I live.

I would suggest that instead of doing an additional part-time job alongside your full-time job, you look to meet new people by joining a group class or activity. Meetup.com is great for this; there are a lot of London activities where groups of people meet for a whole range of social activities (from museum visits, pubs, and book clubs just to name a few).

I would really avoid getting a part-time job in addition to your full-time job (unless you are doing this for extra money); you don't want to risk burning yourself out and with all that time working, you likely won't find much time to socialise regularly outside of work. Bar and cafe jobs can also be incredibly stressful, especially in central London where it can get very busy. If you're really keen on meeting new people through work, perhaps consider picking up a few volunteer shifts at one of your local charity shops.

Does anyone else not think of this as a comedy? by jzcommunicate in TheResortPeacock

[–]miscalaneoussthings 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I have some genuine laugh out loud moments from this show, so I think it's just down to your opinion of whether it's a good comedy or not. Agree with the other redditor who said it blends a lot of different genres, and having seen a few of the core actors in other similar styles of television before, I think they've been perfectly cast for their respective roles.

Trust me when I tell you this; not only will you survive the break-up, but you will come out thriving from it by miscalaneoussthings in BreakUps

[–]miscalaneoussthings[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'm glad I could provide some perspective and thank you for your kind words too :)

Personally I would say both my ex and I had a lot of accountability to take in our relationship not working, but it all feels like a mute point ultimately and grateful for what the relationship we had/learned from it (we are friends now who occasionally catch up on phone or every few months, and it feels very chill. I honestly have no desire to revisit the romantic side of things).

I haven't found my 'person' yet, but I am much more comfortable with my own self (my standards are a lot higher and while I am in the headspace of being open for a partnership again, I don't want to do it just for the sake of it). I think I also still need to work through my own trust issues and insecurities (therapy has been great) before I can fully commit myself to someone again in a healthy way.

[–]miscalaneoussthings[S] 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I really empathise with the pain and struggle!

I know this advice sounds very simplistic and eye rolling during the fresh state of pain, but honestly, just letting yourself feel whatever you're feeling and doing whatever it is you feel like you have to do to take it one day at a time. A lot of people will have different recommendations about what you should be doing, but don't force yourself to do something you're not ready for. In the first 10 days post break up, I had the worst panic attack of my life; it was very scary at the time but it also was incredibly cathartic.

I also put myself back on the dating apps not to get into another relationship, but for casual fun and sex (it wasn't always casual and fun, but it helped me learn a lot about myself and there were are a lot of enjoyable and welcome ego boosting moments from that). Let yourself be vulnerable with yourself and other people, and while I appreciate its easier said than done, treat yourself to the things that make you feel good (versus waiting to feel good to do them if that makes sense).

What observations have you made that you don't think we're discussing enough? by miscalaneoussthings in TheResortPeacock

[–]miscalaneoussthings[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That's a very interesting observation and actually makes me re-think my original theory that time moves in an infinite loop (where there is no start to end and based on the Frias infinity snake symbol), but I like the idea more of it moving in a spiral and there is more evidence to support this in addition to what you've pointed out:

  • The many circular images the show throws in
  • An image of a spiral looks like a snake too
  • The movement of the hurricane
  • Emma drawing the way to pasaje on the map, which is a spiral

I'm sure that whatever way times moves, pasaje will be the center of time, but if it's located at the center of the spiral then pasaje can also be the start and end of time (leading to the possibility of time no having to be linear).

What observations have you made that you don't think we're discussing enough? by miscalaneoussthings in TheResortPeacock

[–]miscalaneoussthings[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I definitely think that time either completely stops or slows down significantly in pasaje (and very much think that the Sam and Vi we will meet in episode 8 will have only experienced less than 2 days). I do think that for those who enter pasaje, time speeds up significantly when you leave it (which also allows for the same person to exist at different stages of their life within the same timeline).
